I'm taking the under. - AceRatbang
Yea the under is a lock and the Seattle with the Points is another lock. I'm a huge 49ERS fan and we all know this game is going to come down to a FG. How that is +7 spread is beyond me. That's too high. |

The NHL is a joke, move on and cancel the league for good. No one in this country gives a crap about hockey, there is no market for it and obviously the league doesn't like to make money so screw it let the players go to Europe to play. AHL is another joke, my kid brother could star on one of those teams.
Hockey in general should be canceled in the States. - BallardHitsHard22
The meter is actually crappy to, the bottom of the stick should be anchored in the middle of the meter, doesn't line up with the lines. |

Someone put a 90K bet at MGM Grand earlier this afternoon. Most sports books upon hearing that have moved the line up to +9 SEA...... |

What if someone challenged the terms of the NHL's agreement to 'own' the cup? I read the below about ownership of the Cup and was wondering if someone could challenge them over the 'termination' of the League and their right to own the Cup. Seems to me there are leagues in Europe that might be able challenge the NHL for 'playing caliber' if this crap continues.
5.This agreement shall remain in force so long as the League continues to be the world's leading professional hockey league as determined by its playing caliber, and in the event of dissolution or other termination of the National Hockey League, the Stanley Cup shall revert to the custody of the trustees. |

Said person probably has numerous accouts with 500k on Seattle just to drive the line up. |

thats a risky bet considering the amount. This is a division game and the seahawks always play the niners close. Vegas must know something to put it up to 9 |

Could be - I have no clue. Just saying that is what was reported via a site that follows/reports on bets made in Vegas at the various casinos. |

Vegas knows that there has been a LOT of action on the 9ers -7 tot -7 1/2. |

because no one cares about hockey in the United States. Only the few hockey fans that still follow.
how does this lockout help Florida? We finally have a playoff season and now there's a lockout. Those who finally got interested in the team are now fishing and giving two craps about hockey. It hurts our market and frankly no one cares. No one is talking about it here in CT, in NY, NJ because it's football season and no once really cares if the NHL comes back. |

Yeah and I really don't know why there would be a lot of action on that. They were -7 vs Giants and clearly didn't come close to covering. I see this game 17-14 final. |

I am extremely disappointed by what happened today. Mr Eklund keeps looking at all this through his rose-colored glasses but it certainly seems that we are no closer to resolution than we were 24 hours ago. I am definitely starting to believe this mess will not be resolved before next summer or before Fehr is replaed. Very pathetic and sad. I just wonder where Mr Eklund's unconditional optimism comes from. |

It comes from the fact he loves the game and just wants there to be a season, to watch NHL hockey again and forget about the darker side of it....like the majority of us. |

Eklund: The Sides Have Arrived...Introducing the Optimism Meter! - Eklund
Are people really surprised by today's events?
It has been obvious since last year when the NHLPA did not want to start negotiation, up to all recent stances by them, that their plan was to hold-off any concrete and realistic negotiations until the owners caved to their proposal - one they created, not one the owners came up with, as a matter of pricipal.
Fehr is just here for this deal and was brought in to be a hard-ass by the players to try to make the owners clear losers in any signed CBA as some form of retribution for the lost year. Fehr has no long-term skin in the game, so he could careless about the repercussions of what he is doing, as long as he gets an overwhelmingly player-friendly deal.
The problem is the players can't win this, and that is just from a lost salary perspective from no games played, let alone getting the owners to sign their deal.
If the NHL had played smart, they would have made their latest proposal the first one - most players would not have dug in so hard, many would have seen it as reasonable to work from, and Fehr would have no choice but to do so.
But when the NHL pissed off the players with the first offer, that gave Fehr the leverage to hold the players to his vision, and he is feeding that anger hoping that won't break the solidarity of the players.
We will not see hockey this year.
