i think you're going to be a little disappointed with the way Klefbom turns out if you think he has franchise defenseman potential. I mean, maybe he has that potential, but I'd say the odds are pretty low. Also, I don't get how Hartikainen and Marincin leap frog Paajarvi based on a one month sample size of AHL play, and how Teemu's potential is now a whole line higher than Paajarvi's, when Paajarvi's scoring rates are still higher than Teemu's in both the NHL and AHL.
I'd argue Hartikainen is hitting pretty close to his potential where Paajarvi's barely scraped his own.

I'm totally baffled how Taylor Fedun is even on this list.

looks about right.

yeah, give or take five spots. A lot of the guys ahead of him have produced better relative to their age.

I can see him on the list towards the end. Pretty weak competiton there, but 12 is high.

I would put Zharkov and Gernat ahead of Fedun.

Fedun is already 24 and hasn't really been anything special this year.

Yeah he is a bit older. That training camp last year made a lot of people overrate him.

Well, I think that's kind of what Steve Tambellini is doing. Although, it's not bringing guys in by trade, he's instead drafting/signing players. He drafted Jordan Eberle & Taylor Hall, and is now surrounding them with players such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov, Oscar Klefbom, and Justin Schultz. Sounds like a pretty good start at building the nucleus of a Stanley Cup winning team, don't you think? Oops, sorry, forgot I was talking to a Canuck's fan. Kinda pointless asking you about a Stanley Cup winning team.
- Sammy Van Hagar

I do think it's a very good start yes. Some veteran leadership, goaltending and depth in the bottom six would go a long ways!

Just curious about your thoughts on Pronman's write-up on Klefbom. Pretty different from yours.

3. Oscar Klefbom, Defense
2010-11 Ranking: 5th
Date of birth: 07/20/1993
Age: 18
Height: 6'3''
Weight: 201
Shoots: Left
Statistics: 33 GP, 2 G, 2 P, 13:41 ATOI (Farjestad-SEL)
Acquired: First round, 15th overall in 2011 by Edmonton

The Good: Klefbom is a gifted athlete who has high-end physical tools. He's an easy plus skater with great acceleration who moves exceptionally well for a player his size. Aside from having good size, he is very physically advanced for his age, never mind the fact most U-20 European players tend to be behind the physical curve whereas he is ahead of it. Klefbom has solid puck skills and flashes slightly above-average vision as well.

The Bad: The issues with Klefbom coming into the draft were that he was a little raw, and how well he would transition faster pace hockey. While people in the industry think he has the making of a great defensive defender due to his size and skating, he had not yet shown a lot of that at a high level outside of his own age group. Klefbom still shows some struggles with his decision making, and the occasional defensive gap, but in the second half of the year he took big strides forward.

Projection: He could be a great #3 defender who logs tough minutes and produces an average amount of offense.

clouts predictions are always ridiculous. not sure if he actually believes the stuff he writes or just does it so haters will post and get his hits up. also not sure if hes actually seen him play other than last years wjc's. (where oscar was pretty fantastic to be fair)
but
that write up u referred to was from last year. he spent most of the season injured and when he came back, he was only given sparing minutes.
this year, he's on the top pair and is playing very well. hes progressed alot in a short period of time.

fans here are gonna freak when they see where eberle was ranked.

nah. i love that gap tooth little fuker, but people are gonna question any list based on homerism. theres a few players at certain spots that made me chuckle..but it's his opinion i guess.
ebs will be higher on that list in no time imo. watched a few barons games and while it's only the Ahl, man he looks good. so dangerous every time he touches the puck.

i also liked what he said about prv

Simspson's a wienerhead.

Paajarvi will be Pj Axelsson

I remember when the Oilers were supposed to cut Dubnyk and Kubhabibualaiubn because Roy and Bunz were plenty good enough.

The Oil Kings this year are a disaster in their own zone and their rush play isn't the same as last year.

Nail Yakupov is awsome. Jealous Nucks fan here.
- vancity787

Yup, shouldn't have been a question whether to pick him or Murray. Hall, RNH, Eberle, Yakupov, Schultz and Klefbom is a ridiculously talented group of young players for just one team to have and the whole "they won't be able to afford them" thing is overblown IMO and mostly just other team's jealous fans. The Oilers are going to be stacked and a powerhouse soon enough.

There was never a question on who the Oilers would pick, that was pure media horsesh!t. Everyone knew Yak was a gem. The Oilers won't be able to afford all of their stars with a reduced salary cap when Nuge, Yak and Schultz come back up for re-signing. Nuge and Yak are better than Hall and Ebs. Money is money. Do you think either will accept less than what Ebs and Hall got? Nuge, maybe. Russia, deffinitely not, he'll go home if he doesn't get what he wants. With a reduced salary cap the Oilers hands are going to get tied if they want to have a complete roster. That being said, they have three years before Yak needs a new contract so if they can get a real goaltender and some help on defense I don't see why they can't compete for a Cup in Yak's third year.

Who the (frank) said that? Rehabibulin sure, but a big no to cutting Dubnyk... And Roy/Bunz have potential, but they're nowhere ready for the NHL.

You're my pissbucket. Open up, son.
