IMO, he's got pretty damn close to the same scoring potential, but he's a much more effective all-around player.

Sort of like Yzerman or Sakic compared to Robitaille or Brett Hull, I guess. Or the centre equivalent of Robitaille or Hull, anyway.

Not really... If MacKinnon reaches his potential he'll be at Vande Velde's level someday. McDavid has an even higher ceiling in my opinion. If everything goes well for the young lad, I could see him being similar to Martindale.

????we must have our wires crossed somewhere. this is exactly what i mean. of course ebs is better than those guys right this minute. he had 76 points last year a tore it up on a terrible team. pronman just doesnt think he'll be better long term (which i personally think is WILDLY inaccurate)..but hence the lower rating.

also, i dont see tavares much to be honest. ive heard his skating has improved, and seen some evidence of this sporadically. but my point was even with improved skating, he's still not in the class of seguin or hall right? but imo, he still belongs higher on any list.
his head for the game, hands, and flat out productivity is better than theirs. hence the higher rating regardless of the skating

*Mackinnon is playing better this game than last, but still doesn't look *all* that special to me.

1st overall for sure but doesn't look better than Hall or Tavares like everyone keeps saying.
