They probably got sick of hearing Oiler fans calling them all trolls, when they said anything else. - prock
Probably.
It was pretty awesome watching the response for Leafers when Eberle beat Kessel by about a 70-30 margin though.

I try to default to people when they've seen more of a player than I have. Somehow, I don't think gretz would take my opinion of Mackinnon as any more valuable as his own. But that's just gretz I suppose. |

You continued arguing and needling for five pages too. So, how is it not trolling on your part then? Am I supposed to just say “you must be right, because you keep insisting”? Eat a big one buddy.
When I state that, and you call me a troll, that certainly is the implication. I’ve never called you a troll for saying you prefer Hall, have I?
Yup, that’s hyperbole.
This is from the Adam French thread last night.
Yup. Just about word for word.
Yes, I little bit of exaggeration, but if I say I feel Seguin is the best of the bunch, short of the Malkin/Crosby/Ovechkin group so far, and get roasted that RNH, Hall, and Yakupov are all better, again, what is the implication. If I name anyone else, Oiler fans freak. - prock
Wow, Prock. You really have an interesting way of comprehending things...

I have barely seen Mackinnon play. I was merely posting my thoughts so far from the 2 games.
IN THOSE 2 GAMES, I didn't feel he looked any better than Hall, Tavares, etc.
I said he looked about on par.
According to Prock that means I don't think he is a special prospect.

Pffff Hall and Tavares were below average prospects... They're lucky they made it to the NHL. |

The funny thing is, you guys call me a troll, when I say I prefer Seguin to Hall. As a Leaf fan, wouldn’t you think this is something I wouldn’t particularly be too happy about? - prock
You state un-equivicolly Seguin is HANDS DOWN BETTER than Hall. Not close.
All stats say that this is just not true. That article, that you said was a good article, and compared Hall, Seguin and Skinner, showed that Seguin has been a good young player...along with Skinner and (wait for it) Hall.
Thing is that all the stats that he was posting had Hall and Skinner being the best of the three in pretty much every category when looking at their careers to date. Not year one, not year two, but both years together. In many cases the range from 1st in a category to last was minimal. One that stands out is the Quality of Competition Stat. Hall plays against a vastly superior opposition when he is on the ice. Vastly Superior. He plays Top D men and best defensive lines of the opposing teams. Not so of Skinner and Seguin.
So it comes down to the problem that you come into an Oiler blog...spew the drivel of Seguin being hands down better and get offended by the fact we defend Hall? Go start the same discussion in a Bruins blog, or a Canes blog. You won't have to worry about Oil fans calling you a troll for entering our area and being a dolt.
Hall is better, you are a fool to think otherwise. |

Also worth noting my comments were made in the 1st or 2nd period I believe, so my observations were mostly from the 1st game and early on in the 2nd game.
Mackinnon obviously looked a lot better as the game progressed. |

Makes total sense, and thats why you'd be making comparisons to Hall and Tavares. Yup, you just meant that game. So what you're saying is you meant "when I compare him to other players that went first overall, he doesn't look anything special, but just over the 7 minutes he was on the ice that period".
That's as pretty stupid statement too.
Nice of you to move on and admit he looks better than those guys though.

I share seasons with a friend so I'm planning on getting to about half the home games this year plus playoffs. So far though I've been crazy busy with work so I've only seen the Saint John smackdown and the PEI home game. Going to see Chicoutimi on the 30th next though. |

Right on. Update us how Drouin and Mackinnon look once you get some more games in. |
