It completely creates an unfair advantage to the team that does it, IMO. It is frustrating for me as a fan to create hopeless situations and detracts from the excitement of the game. In NO other sport is such a thing tolerated, only in the 'man up' world of hockey. Sometimes somebody has to look out what is good for the game. I am speaking up about it because I want us to think about it.
This usually happens at the end of a game when a team needs a goal. I hate it and it's BS. Do you want fans being frustrated at the near impossibility of a team coming back?

I don't have a problem with a guy who lays down to block a shot, but yes if there's 4 or 5 guys all laying in the crease, that shouldn't be allowed. Of course, I've never really seen that many players in the crease trying to block shots.....sometimes 2 maybe 3. It could also be difficult judging who's trying to block shots down low and who actually fell down in traffic. It's pretty typical of forwards from the team trying to score to plow over a defensman and they all end up in the net. Then you start having a "judgment calls" which is the worst kind of penalty.
If they're looking for more offense (and they should be), I'd rather see the NHL get back to enforcing Interference, Hooking and Holding again. Reffing has slipped pretty dramatically since the last lockout. Much of last year reminded me of late 90's/"garage league" hockey. Goalie equipment is still too big IMO.
