Anyone read Tim Sassone's tweet? The one where he answers a fan's question about Rocky Wirtz? Where Tim says Rocky is one of the hard liners and not a deal maker? Is he right? Don't get me wrong, but I thought Rocky would want the lockout to end asap, and didn't Toews have some comments about the blackhawks during the lockout that seemed more positive than negative? |

The rose colored glasses came off for me about a week after cup was raised concerning the Rock. Remember when he mentioned the Hawks were in the Red for the year? The man is hard liner just his father and grandfather... |

If - OTHER THAN repaying the loans from the liquor distribution companies - he's losing money or has negative cash flow now (or in 2010), he will never make money. |

I heard an interview with Dent and Beach just after he had won the AHL player of the week award this season where he and Dent both talked about how the organization was changing gears with their expectation on Beach. The allusion was that if he is to continue professional hockey he would need to transition into a 3rd or 4th line type. That said, it might be better to judge Beach henceforth based on his +/- and his PIM (specifically minors) and not his offensive 'standoutishness'.

click on the 'Kyle Beach/Coach Ted Dent' link. - nathanjf
Nathan...THANKS for the link. Beach's answers were very impressive. He seems to understand the TEAM concept that has been drilled into him. If he can play to these answers, there may be hope yet.

With all due respect Philco, I think that's a loser GM mindset. If this guy was a clear superstar talent, it might be worth waiting a couple more years. He's not. He dominated in junior because he was way more physically mature than other kids there. He has an NHL shot and some size/ability down low but he is probably never going to be a significant NHL player. And some evidence suggests he might always be more trouble than he's worth. If he became another Dan Cleary eventually for someone, that's a risk you take, because failing that, he just takes up another organization contract. - John Jaeckel
JJ...i appreciate your breakdown of Saad...as for 'loser GM mindset,' seems like you agree that Beach should be jettisoned, and from what i've seen this year from him...player of the week honor aside....i'd have no problem with cutting him loose. But after listening to the podcast link Nathan provided...there may be hope for Beach.

After seeing a lot of hiis tweets he really seems to be pro-player. I can see why he would since he is always around them all the time. Guess it is natural to form bonds. He is a true hockey fan. Really loves the sport. He has been around A LONG time. I think he is at the breaking point, too |

Rockford doubled up in Cleveland with a 4-3 s/o win over Lake Erie Saturday night.
Rob Flick, Andrew Shaw and Ben Smith all scored to stake the Ice Hogs to a 3-1 lead that carried over late into the 3rd, but two late power play goals helped the Monsters send the game to overtime.
The game would go to a shootout where Brandon Saad opened the scoring for Rockford with the identical move he used to score on the Hogs recent homestand. The Monsters would hang around, then Nick Leddy's wrist shot beat the home goalie cleanly to give Rockford a temporary advantage. Jeremy Morin scored the eventual shootout winner on a brilliant deke and bulged the twine on his forehand. Alec Richard made the final save to clinch the two points, while adding 36 saves in regulation.
Late penalty trouble nearly saw Rockford piss this game away. Ryan Stanton took 4 minor penalties, the last leading to Lake Erie's equalizer. Still, all in all, a nice 4 point swing through Ohio for the Hawks' farm club. |

Curious choice to have Leddy go before Morin in the SO. |

Anyone been keeping tabs on Teuvo? He seems to have been playing really well since coming back from his injury...he has already netted two goals today! |

Indeed....at least Dent didn't use Bollig this time
Leddy had a good game, couple big hits, the shootout goal...but his penalty in the final 10 minutes opened the door for the LE comeback. Has to be smarter. |

Yeah I know, I have been following him closely...Has all the tools and smarts to be a first line player in the NHL..really hope he comes to the AHL next season to get used to the smaller ice |

Are you from Finland too? TT needs to get stronger which is pretty obvious for young player but he is really creative with a puck and could develop to an impact player for Hawks.

Nope...But I live in Europe... I followed Kruger while he was playing for Djurgarden, and now I'm following Teuvo...He is a bit skinny, but,he is only a kid,18 years old isn't much, besides, his game in the NHL will never be a power game, but the kid has guts, for a player that small he goes to the front of the net a lot...wicked one timer nice shot overall, and great vision, and most importantly he has a two way game,as do most of the Hawks prospects-Teuvo,Mcneil,Danault,Saad |

That´s true. You can see from his game that he´s idols are Kane and Datsyuk. I see some Kris Versteeg in his game too though. |

Hamrlik was quoted criticising the union for not making a deal; Neuvirth was quoted as supporting Hamrlik.
Brouwer was quoted blasting both, saying how can he trust them as teammates if they are going against what the players want: From tsn.ca: "For me, I think those guys selling us out, being selfish like that and making those comments..." Brouwer continued. "Me being on their team, how am I going to trust them as a teammate from now on? Because you know they're not going to support players in the big scheme of things when you go and you play on the team with them; it's going to be tough to want to back those guys from now on."

Brouwer's the one who's out of line. Just because someone is in a union does not mean that they have to agree with, or support every stance the union leadership takes. Someone should tell Brouwer that he's not the only one allowed to have an opinion, then tell him to hit the bricks. |
