Tell that to the guys sitting at home who aren't able to make millions in europe. Please.......thats not what a Union is. A Union stands together. I dont care if its the NHLPA, the teachers Union, or the Welders Union.

Perhaps if all the players felt the pinch the deals they agree to would be different. For example, Rick Nash is gonna play hard ball with the owners because he's not desperate to get back to the NHL. Where as a 4th liner who has kids to feed and only making 800k a year (now making nothing) would possibly take a different deal.

quite a few???? go ahead, list em.......the majority of the players playing over seas are top players. Sure you have a few bottom six guys, but 85 percent if not more that went over from the NHL are skilled guys.

How could a teachers union whose members worked in public schools stop a member from going to a private school and working during a work stoppage? And remember, this is a lockout, not a players strike. The union solidarity issue really doesn't come into play.

Same here, but lets face reality, after the agents cut, and taxes that 800k is more like 300k take home. Still great for people like us, but when you're a pro athlete, that runs out real quick.......

You end up buying a nice house, and that nice house comes with a mortgage, now with zero income, you're panicking to get that monthly payment paid, along with cost of living. If you're a 4th line guy, you'd take a deal just to get back on the ice. Alex Ovechkin is saying no thanks, cause he's killing it over in Russia. Hence no hockey...

Why do the pros go through money faster than we do?? Can they not save some?

I still believe that a deal will be struck and there will be a season. The Players and Owners both know the sport cant survive among the American casual fan base if they lose another year. The die-hards will come back, Canadian fans will come back no matter what happens with this lockout. But the fan that really pads the league and player wallets is the casual American fan. They won't screw up the cultivating of that fanbase after years of developing it.

I though that we'd see hockey by November 1. Now, it looks more like January 1. I think we'll see a season similar to the one following the mid-90's lockout, 50 games or so, but there will be a season. Its just a shame fans have to go through this s**t ever six or seven years because these two sides cant get it together in a board room.

The league mini guy in our town just bought a new Benz, I am saying none of them are really hurting. Now people in the NY, NJ and Long Island area, they are hurting, but not pro players, league mini or not.

I agree, and have been saying this since the first player left for a team over-seas.. Not what a good union supporter should be doing..They should be on the picket line, not in another country playing hockey, calling back after the game to see how things are going, Oh, and being paid....

What truly baffles me, is the fact that the owners dont want to honor existing contracts. I wish i could say that a bad contract i signed wasnt valied cause i didnt wanna honor it. Isnt that why we sign on the dotted line?
