It’s unbelievable though. The article actually flat out says at the bottom that it refers to AOC, not the Panthers, yet, he’s still insisting it’s referring to the Panthers. I don’t get it. He’s essentially saying the author of the article is lying, and that it actually IS the Panthers. How ridiculously and deliberately obtuse can someone be?

And until he can comprehend the difference, there's really no point in reading what he has written.

I think they stopped selling Leafs boxers a few years ago.

I haven't seen them at LeafsSport in a while.

Yes, but my point is that Kessel doesn't get directly compensated for his name on the back. In theory, I'm buying the jersey (at least in part) because I love Phil Kessel.

david Steckel gets the same benefits as Phil Kessel when 1,000 Kessel jerseys are sold, compared to one David Steckel jersey (I'm assuming his mom bought one when he came to the Leafs).

Yes, the article states that it has. I'd gladly admit to it if I was wrong. Same goes for you.
- MJL

Time to admit you were wrong (as was the author).

As per his clarification:

As Erin Bolen points out at SBNation, the audit by Broward County is limited to financial date (sic; he means data) for the Arena Operating Company, the division of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment.

Yes, I stand corrected on that part, as the author corrects that in his update on the article. But as he also states, it doesn't change the two points he makes that he lists as bullet points 1 and 2. All you've done is deflect off of the main point, and why I even posted the article. And that was due to the statement you made that I disagreed with. And that is your statement that the NHL has made a lot of revenue, but very little profit. Instead you went off on tangetns on how Companies are structured etc. Which has zero to do with the point that you and I were debating.

Yes, you are correct. I stand corrected on that. However as the author also points out, it doesn't change the premise of the article.

The author's original premise is completely wrong; his mea culpa is a cup of weak sauce because he doesn't want to admit his entire premise is garbage.

Could the Florida Panthers have made buckets of money? Sure, it's possible.

But without us examining financial data, we have no way of knowing. The document from Broward County is not a smoking gun; without seeing the financial statements of the Florida Panthers, we have no way of knowing if profits from the arena operating company + profits/losses from the Panthers = overall profits or losses. It's an unknown.

Show this article to anyone who has any modicum of knowledge of financial data, and they will tell you the same thing: this story isn't worth the paper it is written on.

Yes, I meant to do that.

Tangents? They've made lots of revenue, little profit (in most cases, no profit). You're retort was that you don't believe that, and cited the article on AOC (not the Panthers), as somehow proof that they're orchestrating some big fraud. Some tap dancing. YOU brought up the article, not me. Now you've admitted you have zero basis to make the argument that the NHL is lying, and teams are lying about losses.

Your incorrect. I never stated or insinuated anything about fraud in any way. Nor did I even come close to stating that the NHL is lying about anything. Again, your off on another tangent that has nothing to do with the point.
