I was told by Burn (and some other poster - can't remember his/her name now) that I was the only person who has ever mentioned Forbes (whether the estimates are accurate or not) in an argument in favor of the NHL. They said that in Toronto nobody has ever mentioned the Forbes article while discussing the current lockout...

Really? Was I the only person to mention the article posted by Forbes? Hmmmm...

It might be true... I do not recall seeing Forbes mentioned in the Leafs thread.

They said I was the only person anywhere to use it... Funny considering I saw Michael Landsberg mention it, I've seen people on these boards use it, I've seen it used on the news, I've seen it used on TSN.ca, I've seen it used on numerous other boards... Whether or not it's accurate, nobody knows (well people know, but not us)... But to say I'm the only person who ever mentioned it is wii todd it.

What was I trying to prove by citing the article? 3 significant lies and mistakes today? LOL I wish I could arbitraily pass judgement as I saw fit and be the judge and juror on that. Unfortunately for you, that is not the case. Every post you make in reply to me shows what your agenda is. Which isn't to discuss the topic, but rather to attack the poster. Unfortuantely, you've been unsuccessful in that attempt going for weeks now.

They aren't acting like victims. Wanting to keep what you negotiated for in good faith, isn't acting like a victim. Whose fault is it that there are too many loopholes?
- MJL

They are acting like victims, they got ripped off apparantly in the last CBA, even though they were making the majority of revenues, their salaries have doubled and things have been great for them. the NHL offered to make whole but that's not good enough for the players, they want a guranteed amount even if revenues don't grow, plus an additional 1.75%. They don't even have guranteed whole contracts now because they pay into escrow, which they might not get back. Apparently they've made all these consessions and still ended up with a favorable CBA and bigger salaries than ever before. Those poor guys (victims). And yea it's mostly the owners fault about the loopholes so basically that means it doesnt need to be fixed is what you're saying??? Makes sense to me, there's a problem but because the owners created it it doesn't need fixing

It is not acting like a victim to want to keep what you already negotiated in good faith. What I'm saying as far as the loopholes with it being mostly the owners fault, is not that it doesn't need fixing. But that why should the players have to give all the concessions to fix those issues. An important distinction that you apparently didn't get. It's the Owners fault, so let's take from the players to fix it. Makes sense.

If you really want to consider taking what isn't theirs to being with, the answer is....

Because they're taking more than their fair share currently, by a wide margin.

The individual contracts that each player negotiated in good faith, absolutely is theirs. That's what the players want to keep.

Then, as the previous poster pointed out, why still more guaranteed increases?

In the deal offered today, or in the players counter proposal on Make Whole?
If it's on the latter, I've explained my opinion on that umpteen times.
