right...

But the guy who wrote it has been through 2 lockouts. So he's been in the league for over 7 years. My guess is that he will be around for a while longer. Even if your career only lasts a year, that's not a mere moment.

If you only last 1 year then that was a choice you made in your life. If you choose to play hockey instead of getting an education and getting a job then you will suffer the consequences of not being prepared for the world.

Nice to see there are some with a rational mind out there in NHL land (though I still side with the owners), as opposed to morons like Paul Bissonette, Ian White, Krys Barch or Chris Versteeg.

You know, the spoiled b!tches of the league.

You really think an NHL player wrote that and asked EK to post it on Hockeybuzz?

And if you last 1 year in another career making 10 times less and working 2-3x as much you would emerge unemployed but without the "I played in the NHL" line you'd need to be a really popular insurance salesman (looking at you Pronger brother)

If this player "asked" you to post this - he should have no problem revealing his name??
- bgoulet

and probably pay you to have his propaganda spread... We don't care about the players or owners. You millionaire. You can retire right now so what's your problem? money?

NHL / NHLPA, please show us you:

1. truly appreciate your fan base
2. truly trust/understand your math
3. truly trust your leaders/lawyers

And sign a contract for AT LEAST a dozen years.

A 6 year CBA would be more disappointing than this current lockout.

It's been verified. Ek posted a picture of the actual fax it came in on.

I'm sold.

You're a mess. Just embrace the fact and move on. Life will be much easier going forward once you come to terms with it

Yes, a player definitely wrote that. Absolutely. No doubt.

at the notion that most owners got into hockey for "the passion of the game". Some, sure, but I would say even the ones that did are ultimately the same sort of businessmen like the rest, except the few guys like Illitch who really treat it like a hobby

Dear Unnamed NHL Player:

Screw you dude. At the risk of being banned, that was a boring, placating, pile of crap that meant less then nothing. If you gave one sh i t about fans you would have been actually negotiating these last few weeks, let alone tried to get a deal done in the summer. Never mind that the hiring of Donald Fehr was a counterproductive, fear mongering move that all but guarenteed a work stoppage. I have been a supporter of the players b/c I realize collective bargaining is a necessity and that left to their own devices, NHL owners will steal and rape their way to sickening profits, but I am done. There is no excuse for the absolute horse sh i t that we have had to put up with twice in eight years. The last CBA was a full on win for the players and yet here we are still not seeing any hockey. How is it anything but pure and disgusting greed that allows the players to win the financial benifits of the last 7 years with no willingness to conceede, give back or comprimise? How many non-millionaires aren't working right now because there's no NHL? In my opinion, as long as Jeff Finger is a mulit-millionaire and as long as Bettmen continues to keep teams in Pheonix and Nashville while ignoring obviously better markets, neither side has a leg to stand on and both come out looking like greedy as shol es. But if you are going to be a greedy as s hole, at least have the guts to admit it and don't anonymously act like you give a fu c k. Its insulting. Now go make a deal and get back on the ice before I actually start watching the NBA.

- Jimmy Tea

PS all those idiots calling Bettmen names in the media are making you all look great, if your plan is to look like out of touch uneducated jocks with no concept of the real world. Keep it up!

You're just rambling on making no sense. You posted some nonsense about players playing 15-22 years and then when called on to explain that thinking you just started rambling about other stuff while never answering the original question as to where you came up with those comical numbers?? Like I said you're a mess so why bother using something other then emoticons with you?

Very emotional. Feel better?

Please don't forget that the owners are just as much a problem in this little dance as the players. In fact, although I'm a firm believer in capitalism, I think the owners are their own worst enemy. The "problems" as they perceive them, are largely self inflicted due to over-inflated egos and poor business decisions. And I really believe that several of them negotiated contracts in bad faith this past summer.

That said, it's going to take both sides to make compromises to make this work.

I said a FULL NHL career is 15-22 years.. That's like saying a full Plumbers career is 30 years, then some moron (you) comes along arguing how the average Plumbers career is 25 years. Many NHLers last 15+ years. The guy who wrote that blog has been in the NHL for at least 8 years. Who do you think are doing all the negotiating? Guys like Crosby who make lots of money? Or the Rinaldos who make league minimum and might last 2-3 years? My posts have substance and i talk hockey while you insult people and contribute NOTHING. ps thanks for toning down the emoticons
