Depends on the amount of financial flexibility that the next CBA has. There have been NHL people using coded phrases like "roster balancing" as one of the League's goals (which is a thinly veiled reference to reducing or closing existing CBA loopholes, forcing teams like the Flyers and Penguins to pare down their long-term contracts and making to tougher to retain players they would otherwise want to keep).

Which would be interesting because the league needs some teams to always be in the playoff hunt if not making deep runs to keep ratings strong.

Well, sure the NHL is happier when LA vs NY is the SCF, but they also need other teams to not have 6 or 7 year droughts.

Of course they just need the big money teams to at least be in the playoff hunt if not making a run. Any attempt to handcuff them will lead the league to again say a CBA they mainly wanted didn't work.

If enough people stay away for a year or two, they will think a lot harder before resorting to a lockout as their first negotiation tactic

For what its worth, one of the things keeping me interested in the NHL is hockeybuzz. In particular the posters on here. Some that I have exchanged BS with in the past, and probably will again but at the end its nice to talk to others who are fans of the same team. Sometimes a hard thing when not living in Philadelphia.

Anyway just in regards to the whole spending money on the NHL... I have two jerseys. One adult and a youth from my younger days. I dont intend on buying any more in my lifetime as how expensive they are. I still have a dream of travelling to see the Flyers play at home in a playoff game, and that will be the last place I spend money on the team maybe aside from a cap every few years. I do not agree with the amount of money the owners or players get for the service they provide.

I love this team, and more so the theme of being hard working and tough that the Flyers seem to make me think of. It's unfortunate that my childhood admiration is being spit on by a bunch of rich people.

In a time where everyone in the world is being asked to cut back these idiots are arguing over money most of us will never make in a lifetime. I used to admire these guys. Snider for wanting to simply win, and the players for what I thought was playing for the love of the game and honour.

In the end it all comes down to greed and money. Its dissapointing, I expected more. Maybe its part of being young and "naive".

Hockey is supposed to be about more than money, numbers and profits. All of these idiots forgot that at one point. Maybe they should come to a local rink up here in the north and see what it should be about.
