That is why I put in the word directly. In other words, that some teams are struggling is an NHL problem directly. Now there is no doubt that the players would benefit if more teams were in a better financial situation. Contraction isn't about to happen. Contraction would directly be a problem for the players. But that isn't part of the CBA negotiations right now. The players want non profitable teams to lose money. Where are you getting that from? And Ian White acted like an idiot. So what? That's irrelevant to the big picture imo. - MJL
I didn't say they want them to lose money. I said they want them to be able to pay for NHL salaries even if they lose money. Big difference. |

I live in NJ & have seen some real hardship & true life altering problems in the wake of hurricane sandy. People have lost their homes, their jobs & worst of all some lost their lives. And putting all things in perspective now while the NHL & NHLPA battles over billions of dollars now just really makes me angered & indiferent towards the whole process now.Play or dont play now to alot of people in the northeast it doesnt really matter anymore. |

Sorry. - BuffaloHardHat
Why is anyone even discussing the Sabres moving? Pegula doesn't seem to concerned with taking losses at the moment.
Scottsdale approved a flipping 20 year lease for Coyotes and their 3 fans. That seems like more of a problem to me.

You KNOW I meant player's salaries league-wide.
You just love an argument. - Coburns_Nose
Whether it's League wide or with individual players. Skill set dictates player salaries. Bidding for Free Agents between teams drives up players salaries. And team's bid against one another on players, because of a players skill set.

I dont think hockey players care any less about the damage the Hurricane than the public. It has nothing to do with them. But i remember seeing Subban and others doing a charity thing for the hurricane victims. |

....as long as they stay within the cap system...which just so happens to be linked to revenue/profits. |

Right. What I'm saying is that increased revenues and profits are what make increased player salaries possible. Bobby Orr was the most skilled player of his time, but players with far less skill than him are making far more money than he did because NHL teams are making more money than before. If the NHL starts making less money year after year and profits and revenues go down, player salaries will go down too even though the average player skill level will likely be going up with time. |

The NHL sure as hell cares more about their PR though. They asked NBC not to air Operation: Hat-trick. It could at least alleviated some stress even if only for 60 minutes of Hockey.

Increased revenue does certainly increase the amount of the pool of money that is available to the players overall. But skill set does indeed dictate how that pool of money is distributed among the players. So your statment that it doesn't, is incorrect, imo. |

Rather than take the time to explain to you why your two angles aren't worth a bucket of spit, perhaps I'll just let child molester Pete Townshend explain it to you:
"Meet the new boss,
Just the same as the old boss." - Atomic Wedgie
Indeed my opinion, like yours, are worth the same....actually, in this case yours would probably be less, considering you actually commented on mine (again, as you put it, isn't "worth a bucket of spit")....rather than just pass by it, as literally everyone else on this thread did.
Regardless of all that, I'm not sure where I was asking for your "time to explain", everyone else seem to get that it was rhetorical.....thanks though, I appreciate some random dude on a board on some mid-level (at the best of times) hockey related website, taking time out of his busy day (hahaha) to "help".
Edit: Apparently an attempt at dark, frustrated humor was lost on you, A&W |

I went through all of this with Flyers_1488 a few weeks ago.
Whether the "1488" is intentional or by accident, the point is that that number is offensive to many on a racial and anti semitic level.
I been watching Flyers_1488 and he seems like an alright guy, but that user name needs to be sorted out. |
