Your very naive, if you think it's funny about Average Joe commuting an extra hour a day, making less money then he did 4 years ago, to look after his family. Your very ignorant or self righteous.
Most of the NHLPA are also self righteous and ignorant, because they take the people for-granted that pay their salaries. The players haven't lost one cent, since the last CBA, that cost the NHL a season. Instead their wages went up almost 90% in those seven years. Meanwhile, half of the teams in the league are losing money. You can't expect the top 8 teams to keep dolling out money for Revenue Sharing forever. One of two things will happen, the league will implode and a number of franchises will cease to exist, or secondly, the top 8 teams will start a rebellion and refuse to give into the PA and will go all out to have it capitulate. The PA better figure it out soon, because either way, many of the players will be out of a job. - PrinceLH

Rather than take the time to explain to you why your two angles aren't worth a bucket of spit, perhaps I'll just let child molester Pete Townshend explain it to you:

Great point!

Eklund: POLL: Do You still Care about this NHL Season? + For/Against Mayers? - Eklund
The NHL is a nice way for me to watch high quality hockey. If it is there I will watch if it isn't I won't. Not losing any sleep over this lockout.
As a point of interest I got rid of my tv and cancelled cable service in 2004 when I still cared about the NHL...no TV has been one of the better life choices I made. Thanks for the lockouts allowing me more time to make better choices with my life! |

Don't really care either way now, I'm over the fact that there may not be a season, but would welcome a return. |

some people, like Jamal, must not be as short-sighted as you. The players conceded in the last cba, they've already conceded all around in their proposals for this cba, they know the owners are just going to ask for more next cba. People who want them to just roll over and take what they get seem to hate that the players get paid what they do, but will take the side of the super-rich owners?
- Blue Clam
Who's being short sighted now?
You say they conceded in the last CBA. You are correct.
But in the long run, the players also ended up making out like bandits under that last CBA. Their share and salaries went up significantly. |

I would like to conced 24% of my actual salary if you give me a 70% raise over the next 5 years.
Players need to stop whining, the last CBA ended up totally in their favor. |

So can we agree that you need to quit belly-aching about the players needing that 57% in order to honour all existing contracts, because you yourself have admitted that any deal that has a hard (not soft) landing at 50% would still be honouring contracts?
Jesus, I'm making more progress with these labour negotiations than Guy Serota ever could. - Atomic Wedgie
I'm not sure the players have been asking for 57% to honor contracts (was their 1st year split in their most recent offer too high, yes, but that is a different issue).
Thats what the "make whole" issue is in the first place b/c the HRR split would not leave enough $ to cover the values of the contracts. Problem is the NHL hasn't offered to fully honor those contracts yet as $211M doesn't cover them. |

You forgot to add - - - - - Both the NHL and NHLPA are acting like such egotistical d-bags that they can't even look at the fact they've lost over a billion dollars and say hmm.. maybe we should sit down and quit the d*ck measuring contest and play some hockey .. . . . . . . because i would have voted for that. |
