Dunno, good question, and dunno for sure if that's what happened. Some players are playing in the AHL, would there be no contact between management and those players? Hard to imagine not.
Also injured players have been working out under the supervision of the clubs. Again, certainly, there has been contact there.
But it is a valid question. What I heard is some Hawk players were told to get ready. - John Jaeckel
Why some and not all ?

Probs the guys not in
or in
as they should be relatively fit but the other dudes hanging out and doing fitness on their own. if you subrscibe to their twitter feeds (i dont) and a bunch say going to / flying to / skating in
then that should be a solid tell. |

Hey JJ - just out of curiosity was wondering what Shalunov is doing right now. Some sites say its off season but isn't he supposed to be with the KHL big club in Chebyinsk? Do you know if he's hurt because I see no games played for him this season. |

I don't think mgt. can contact but...
Players are supposed to follow an off-season conditioning program and some as you say are playing in Rockford.
From what I understand every Hawks player has a detailed program to follow as a certain level of fitness is expected come the first day of training camp.
My view is players need to make sure they are at their specified level of fitness whether camp starts in September or December...

Twitterverse not sounding very optimistic today.
Adrian Dater (Avs beat writer) is pretty much nailing it with his tweets over the last hour or so, IMO:
adater @adater NHLPA wants mediators back, after they did nothing last time. These people truly can't be saved. Go away
adater @adater Anybody else starting to think maybe Donald Fehr is the big problem now from everybody getting their game back? I am
adater @adater Fehr's clients are losing every day! He isn't minimizing any losses at this point, he's adding to them.
adater @adater I canvassed five ex players today, including HOFer. All five say players should take the deal in front of them, right now
adater @adater First, Don Fehr wanted mediators. Then he took himself out of room. Now wants mediators again. His job description is what again?
adater @adater Fehr is messing up by pushing for peanut differences. Risk of losing all peanuts real
Edit: this thing smells like it's about to blow up again. |

One person makes a twitter-verse?
Why is so wrong to want mediators now that the differences are much, much smaller than they were when the mediators were there a week ago?

1) No, one person does not make a Twitterverse. I follow all kinds of NHL-related people. I just posted what Dater has been saying because I happen to agree with him.
2) Ask me again when/if they ever accomplish anything when these two sides are involved.

Anyone have an updated photo of Byfuglien? Wondering what he will be weighing on opening night. Failing that, anyone have a photo of JJ with his shirt off? - Scooby_Doo
Yes there is! Love the Title "Dustin Byfuglien apparently not locked out of his refrigerator this summer"

As I said recently, look out once Fehr and Bettman get back involved. And as I've been saying for a while Fehr is a cancer who ruins every sport he gets invovled in.

It's not wrong necessarily but the bigger picture...Fehr's has been spun like a top and has flip-flopped on the mediator issue.
As much as it is hard to write, Bettman has played this really well...
Now the danger for the PA, and maybe Bettman/Owners mission all along, is to show Fehr has not added any real value.
Right now there is a better chance of having a fractured PA than ever before.
Will that lead to a settlement?
Maybe or maybe not but this could mean the PA won't be as strong ever again.... |

2-3 weeks of no Stella's and fast food and he will drop a bunch of weight.
Would still rather have the big guy on my team than most dmen in the NHL. |

@adater: Owners are "furious" at Don Fehr right now
Good call JJ! You were spot on! I hate to say it, but I think this season is toast...and anyone with any sympathy for Fehr or the PA in my opinion is nuts, I'll probably get blasted for saying that, but it's my opinion..Fehr and the PA are doing nothing but stalling, and I do not know why...The guy is a total cancer! And right now, I despise the players so much for hiring him, they knew exactly what they were getting, so I call B.S. that theycare about the fans...And I hate when someone mentions that last time the players gave up so much, and they shouldn't have to this time...Last time was last time, this is new, and has nothing to do with it! I'm surprised they don't mention the deal they had in the mid 90's!!!!! Morons!!!!! |

>TSN Canada crew pretty much reporting the same info: many players want to vote RIGHT NOW, but Fehr won't allow it
>They also are questioning what Fehr is now doing by asking for mediators -- they see it as a big stall tactic
>Meanwhile, all the progress made by Burkle yesterday is being pissed on by Fehr
>Think the players better get control of Fehr or they are going to overplay their already losing hand -- and make $0 this year |

Fehr is the worst! I kinda hope he does too but i wanna see some hockey at the same time..
- Cheeseballin
I'm with you! I would love for NHL hockey to resume, don't care if it's 50 games, but yeah, Fehr is the absolute worst! |
|
|
|
I hope they make an agreeable deal.
However I would like to see the NHLPA vote on the most recent proposal... A full vote just to see what would happen... - fattybeef
I would too, because I think the majority of the PA would accept it...but Fehr wont allow it, piece of monkey poo!! |

adater @adater Owners are "furious" at Don Fehr right now
adater @adater Owners furious about Fehr's stalling, mediation ploy. He's a "suicide bomber" one from mgmt aisle put it |
