Scottie Upshall goes and posts on twitter last night:
"Plain and simple these owners think they can break us apart. GOOD LUCK! We r stronger than we've ever been and r behind Fehr %100."
Everyday it seems more and more like a pissing match. Enough is enough. Its us idiots who are the reason these guys even have jobs. With out us there is no NHL. Without us there is no 10 year $125 million job. Yet they couldnt give flying monkey fart about the fans. Sad sad state of affairs..

ZZZZZZZ.....
Sport being ruined by greedy bumholes on both sides. This coming when the United States is basically in a depression and tons of folks can't put food on the table or clothes on their kids back. Talk about having zero self awareness.
Best case scenario season starts in January. At this point I don't give a rat (frank). |

I'm more than tempted to just write to NHL sponsors informing them that they should seriously consider dropping the NHL as a business partner. |

I think Jsaq said it best on twitter:
Scottie Upshall @ScottieUpshall
There's no pressure yet on the owners to lose this year, that's why they still treat us like Cattle. They'll need a partner come January.

@ScottieUpshall Super...and then you guys can get back to using the fans as an ATM
I refuse to take sides at this point, but I'm really fed up with the victim act. |

$2,000+ : The amount I pay to PLAY the game of hockey yearly.
$2,000+ : The amount I pay (roughly) to WATCH the game of hockey yearly.
$0: The total amount I have ever earned from PLAYING or WATCHING hockey. |

Irony that people who are struggling vote for anti-economic growth policies. Sort of sad.
Hockey generates revenue from advertising (via TV deals) and people attending games. I'm don't agree that the business side will be ruined once it starts again.
That being said, the "small guy" working at the rink or for the organizaiton - it is sad they get caught in this mess.
I've said this before numerous times, but it is very tough to negotiate these deals b/c you don't have true capitalism at play. You have 30 businesses combined negotiating with a base of employees. Makes things more tricky.
Eventually, my guess is that you will see something similar to the NFL, where stars get paid well but veterans will be replaced by cheaper, younger players. You may already have that to a degree.
Good day to all. Hopefully we get some hockey soon. If not, enjoy that extra time with your kids and family.
Cheers.

Y'know, right about now I wish it was Bryzgalov running his mouth instead of Upshall. At least he'd be saying something funny and likely non-destructive, probably about tigers or bears. |

It's time we get in on these negotiations, we need to expand revenue sharing to offset our hockey expenses! |

There's no way that Fehr is a "professional" negotiator! What else does he think he's going to get for the players??? |

The deal is there to be made. Greed and ego are the only things separating these two sides.
See you guys next season, if there is one. |

Posting a heads up that I'm about to get started on a new blog. I try not to post more than one new blow per day out of consideration to the other bloggers and the message board participants.
In this situation, however, I figured that the CBA situation required a blog of its own and overshadowed the usual "Friday Hockey Fix" game previews, links and results roundup. So the Friday Fix blog will be forthcoming in an hour or so.

Oh Bill... this whole CBA mess has me a bit depressed and it's way too early for me to have to get up and come to work... but this made me laugh so hard... thanks for making my day!

Same here.
Instead of focusing on the idiocy that is prevalent in both camps, I prefer to begin asking myself, "What *is* Gary Bettman's theme music?" Probably the Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back. |
