It's not a contradiction but I can see where you would be confused. The NHLPA (and owners at times) have chosen battles that are not in their best interests. This is one of them. For example, the NHLPA lost a season fighting over accepting a salary cap. Was that decision in their best interests? No.

Just because something is the best solution, it doesn't mean everyone is going to like it.

I can see where you would be confused on it not being a contradiction. It's quite simple. If it's the best solution for everybody involved, there wouldn't be any objections to it.

No I did not agree to the post in it's entirety. I understand why you would think that. That's on me. But I just clarified what I was agreeing to. Do you want to keep arguing what I was agreeing to, and keep trying to tell me what I meant?
- MJL

I'll leave arguing intent to you. If you had previously admitted that your response to Pyzik was horribly misleading and that it was your fault, I never would've responded.

Your previous post clarified your position without ever admitting you screwed up initially. All is well. Carry on.

Games through December 30 have been cancelled... At this point just cancel the season, damage is done. Enough of the nonsensical charade that is being played by both sides.

That's likely to be the counter that the NHLPA would put on the table. I would assume that a cut player simply coms off the Cap. Unless there was a signing bonus issue involved.
- MJL

If cap hits are still based on AAV, even with the years limit and variance rules can't a team do what frontloading they can, sign a guy through the maximum number of years (on that frontloaded hit) and cut him after a year?

Also, please be extremely specific on what you do and do not agree with in my post. Thank you.

That might be correct, I'm not sure.

Yes, very good point. Definite possibility for Cap Circumvention issues. I specifically agree with your entire point.

So maybe not only the NHLPA would have issues with non guaranteed deals, but so might the NHL. Unless there is some mechanism put in place to prevent the Circumvention. What that might be, I don't know.

Always thought the Season would begin after New Years. I can't wait for Hockey to get started.

Maybe you are right. I don't see it. If the season starts early January, it's what a 50 game schedule vs. only Conference teams? That's not NHL hockey in my book.

I won't spend a penny on the NHL for at least one year. No buying tickets, merchandise, Center Ice Package etc... Sure I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face, but if a bunch of fans take this approach it will go along way in preventing the sport from treating the fans like poop.

2 NHL teams playing against one another. The intensity ramped up with player excited to be back playing. No mid Season doldrums. Needing to ramp it up right out of the gate, with little time for error or you miss the playoffs. That'll be NHL hockey in my book. And I'll bet the Hockey will be great. And there is no doubt in my mind that it will be better NHL hockey there were currently experiencing right now.

Do you realistically think that's going to prevent a lockout in the future? Can the fans keep that up for 5-8-10 years?

I agree with you there. The condensed schedule makes every game at a premium, no denying that. The NHL is a fantastic product, the point is these greedy bumholes treat fans as nothing more than ATM machines. The economic times right now with so many people out of work and really struggling to survive, you would think there would be more self awareness. Rich people on both sides fighting over how to split millions of dollars is the definition of greed, and selfishness.

Completely understandable why you feel that way. I understand the issues. But the process is ridiculous.

Bryz being Bryz; plus it's apparently a bit of a humorous jab at the reporter over something he'd written earlier.

Maybe not, but I believe the damage being done to the sport now will have lasting ramifications. The owners will see a substantial decrease in attendance in a fair amount of cities, and the already low TV ratings are going to dip as well. And when that happens they lose advertising dollars.

if only Bryz being Bryz equaled the same type of production as Manny being Manny.

I really have no expectation when it comes to the 2012-13 season. NHL hockey feels like this abstract, distant concept to me at this point.
