I like it. It would help with prongs too since there is no amnesty, right?

There's still likelihood Prongs's contract ends up in the injury pot.

among active players in the NHL Briere is ranked:
#4-Playoff Points
#7-Playoff Goals
#7-Playoff Goals/Game
#4-Playoff Powerplay Goals
#2-Playoff Game-winning Goals
#9-Playoff Assists

...just sayin...

Stop picking on Danny, he has come through when we needed him most! Also he is responible for Ville Leino sticking it to the Sabres

Every small market team's thoughts on this problem: too bad.

The big markets (if they cared) could have leveraged a compromise here to make the cap compliance smoother/easier, but they didn't want anything to do with that solution: expanded revenue sharing.

It's possible the Flyers are going to end up getting walloped, but the reality is that there is no one to blame but management here. They've been fast and loose with the cap for a long time, and there is a price to walking that knife's edge potentially.

I've received a half dozen emails requesting I post more. My apologies, I have been swamped at work recently. To be honest, the lockout has caused me to be apathetic towards the sport as well. November was a different story - lets just say I was restricted from posting.

I think a deal will get done soon. I promise at that point to increase my posting back to the legendary good ol days.

Cheers to all.

Here are 2 options for handling the cap:

1) Allow teams to go up to the 70 million this year that was originally on the table. However, anything over the newly agreed to cap, will be deducted from next years cap. So if the cap was supposed to be 62 million this year under the new terms, if a team is up to 70 million this year, you dock them 8 million next year.

2) All teams to bury a player in the AHL this year. However, next year, they must be brought up or if they are left in the AHL, their cap remains.

But under no circumstances is amnesty given. You can also argue that every team that is near the salary cap has a player or two on a front loaded contract. The new CBA needs to make sure they pay are held accountable for the cap imbalance at some point.

Sounds good to me, if the owners are serious about keeping themselves in check, they shouldn't be given any free passes for the deals they've signed.

I have full confidence in Holmgren being able to circumvent the cap in the next cba.

Or at least make a deal without fully understanding the long-term ramifications.

This lock out has been about reining in the big spenders and the teams that have found loopholes ..... but can't see the NHL agreeing to any rule that helps those teams....

I agree. It seems that there are a bunch of owners trying to give the big frank you to a few of the more "creative" owners.
