Daly has apparently come out and said any talk of the latest NHL offer was hypothetical questions from the mediators. Mixed signals, anybody? - BulliesPhan87
Ha, interesting.
I think the whole issue with taking the offer off the table is overblown anyway. It was simply the NHL saying "we can only give you $300M if you accept these 3 conditions". The $300M will come back if the players can get closer on those conditions. |

It's the mediator's job to go with "What if they offer this"...and see if progress can be made.
Both sides have dug in their position, don't expect any movement until the season is at risk, last minute deal...if there is one. |

Stop trying to make yourself right.
You asked what has Miller done for the Sabres? Lundquist cant even beat Miller head to head in a playoff series.
Well I answered you and also what he did for all of us Americans.
Now again , what has Lundquist exactly done for any team ?
I'll wait. - BuffaloHardHat
just as much as Miller has done....never backstopped his team to the Finals let alone win the Finals.
Lundquist can't beat Miller in a playoff series? Because he didn't doesnt mean he can't. Plus that was what, 5 years ago?
And again, playoff series are about the team vs team, not a goalie vs a goalie |

The players will get a longer contract term... it should be the only thing they are fighting for right now.
5 yrs is not fair to the players.
I believe the owners would bend on this is if given the other two concessions. - jimmc7722
Probably. I think a 7 year limit on all contracts is fair, instead of a 5 year limit with a 7 year limit for your own free agents.
Surely most owners would go with a 7 year limit.

that's the limit they can insure contracts....7 years might fly for both sides. |

It's definitely overblown. The whole 'meltdown' last week was stupid theatrics. The current 'hypothetical question' thing is stupid theatrics. If it's the NHL's true last offer, just leave it at the table and literally only accept a yes or no answer. |

The NHL cannot give in on this right now, because if they do then Fehr will not agree to a deal and just pick something else to focus on until the last minute. - niedermayer27
Except they have said over and over again that they won't. Both sides have been very clear on five years. |

I don't know. I think if the NHL would bend on that, there would be a deal. I think the PA would accept the 5% variance and the longer CBA if they could get an increase on term limit. But it seems like Daly and the NHL are still defending that hill.

If the owners want a season they will have to move off 5 years. Because you know the players won't. They don't move off anything. |
