Read the article. I really enjoyed the part about the players whining about giving up too much and not gaining anything...."In my mind the pension is the only thing we can point to as a gain"
They do understand they are locked out, and not on strike, right?
They keep acting as though they are in control and want just as much given to them, but that is not the case. The NHLPA is locked out so the NHL can get a realistic handle on wage hikes and control wage spending.
Seems pretty obvious. - moondawg
So if you're locked out, you can't negotiate on the issues? That automatically means that the players who are locked out have to give in on every issue?

Again, the players speaking as if this were a player strike! This wasn't their choice and yet they're making out like they're calling the shots. - MnGump
They haven't been? The NHL's entire game plan in this was to lock the players out/ Crush the Union. And gain massive concession in all areas. Isn't quite working out that way for them. They met their match in Fehr.

Owners have lost money they will never get back, and damage has been done to the League and sponsors, that could wind up costing the League even further. Which will also affect the players. We'll see if the owners get massive gains in all areas.

I know what he was getting at and I congratulate him and his Kings and his goaltender on their achievment of course. I seen a goalie the ilk of Roloson get hot an almost win a cup. I want to see it again before I start putting the Kings goalie in the same breath as Miller, Lundquist etc...
I said "when on his game" I think Ryan Miller is the very best goaltender in the league then I would say Lundquist next. |

He was born in AZ cuz his Dad was a minor league hockey journeyman.
Raised in Eastern Canada, mostly New Brunswick.

you can say that about 20 goalies though....any goalie who is on top of their game can be considered top tier...problem with Miller is he is a head case and not consistant enough. |

I agree with much of this. I don't get why so many people dismiss Miller - when on his game, easily a top-5 goalie in the NHL. I would take him over Hiller any day.
Quick had a ridiculous playoffs. He posted numbers that you would only usually see in a video game. But it will be hard for him to be anywhere near the same level of play next season. It will be interesting to see how he goes. |

Yes, because having a lock out that lasts for half the season and possibly the whole season is winning. Good job Fehr. |

And half of the owners won't lose money this year, if they don't play. Whats your point? It's cheaper to not have a season than lose millions.
But yeah, Fehr got them right where he wants them. Next they'll cancel the season, let me guess another win for Fehr. |

Yep. Remember Jiggy after the Devils Cup finals. The following year wasn't so great. Teams watch film and learn. |
