Says the guy who suggest m MLB teams with higher payrolls dont win. Its okay, you can always use emoticons as your hockeybuzz viagra. - systemtool
I never once suggested that, I simply commented on your statement of those who spend the most money win, and I pointed out using facts and simple math that that was simply not the case even close to the majority of the time. Next time try to read and comprehend please. |

If this is true about Iginla & St. Louis, why wouldn't any players go public about it, at this point, if there are more that want to play than continue a losing fight, then the majority, you would think gets vocal.
If I'm Iginla & I state publicly what your saying is true, how many hard core union idiots can verbally slay Iginla as he's about as respected as they come.
I guess thats why $hit players with no contracts like Hainsey & Campoli are in the fore front - puckhead17
I have a sinking feeling that time will prove Richard right, since no one saw the NHLPA get overthrown by their own players coming last time but they can see it coming this time. |

What the hell does population have to do with anything? You are comparing the population of a city like Toronto to Edmonton? That is so effing stupid. So Calgary has a higher population than Winnipeg and basing your logic on that it means Calgary is a better city and more people wanna live there and play hockey there too??? - ruttager17
It has to with where people are choosing to live and call home. But again, its easier to ignore the facts and just randomly lash out in the name of homersim and denial, than to accept that Edmonton would not be one of the appealing places for players to live and play should the PA disband and we have a RFA free for all.
And yes, I would rather live in Calgary than Winnipeg. |

Herbal Magic sweetchunks.
What did I do to anyone but point out that Edmonton would be one of the least appealing places for UFA's? Speaking of biggest homers here at hockeybuzz. If switching from Laughs291831923 to long widebottom gets old quick, you should quit now. - systemtool

Im talking competing and contention, not strictly championships alone.
You pointed out, using math and facts, that just all the team that won and consistently competed were all spending above the league average.
Next time, try to fail less, fail less miserably, and fail with pride. You were wrong and now you're angry at me for your failure. indeed. |

To be fair, Justin Schultz chose Edmonton over every other NHL team when money wasn't a factor. |

Edmonton would not be an appealing free agent destination. That being said, they also have a very wealthy owner now who could indeed compete in terms of dollars and cents. He would probably have to overpay to land certain guys of course, but Edmonton would hardly be left shivering in the cold.
Decert won't happen anyways. silly debate. |

I said top teams. I didnt think you were that clueless I had to number how many teams would fall in that category
I also never once said the "highest spending team".
It can be any number, as long as its fairly above the half mark which it clearly is. You just need to have number because your arguement holds no weight otherwise.
Its a fact and reality. The teams consistently contending are the teams spending more than the average. - systemtool
Well for (frank) sakes the top teams could be the top ten, the top fifteen even the top twenty five. considering 5 out of the last 12 winners were out of the top 10 in payroll that means your theory even though you are changing it to the top ten is only accurate 58% of the time. Do you wanna change it to the top 15 teams so you are a lil closer to 100%??? |

Everything has to do with population, ruttager. This is why so many NHL players want to play in India. - laughs2907
Thats because India is the only other place in the world with a big mall, aside from Edmonton. |

Ebs and Hall signed extensions without much prodding. They could have gotten that money anywhere. |

Yes, and many teams can match Edmontons willingness to spend. History has proven this. Getting a new building is another reminder of willingness to spend. |

WTF? Toronto is an older city and is on the Eastern part of Canada where Europeans first settled, of course it freaking has a higher population. So by your logic Mexico City is where people wanna live and settle because it has over 9million people living there??? |

No, they were RFAs with Edmonton for years still. They couldnt just walk away. Besides, the discussion was about if the NHLPA disbanded and there was no union and all players became UFA's. |

Holy crap, Edmonton is a lot more pathetic than everyone makes it out to be. Now I understand the Calgary dilemna.
