Everyone will have to step up their games.

We'll have to hope Luke Schenn can provide a boost on our side of the blue line. Lavi is going to have to lean pretty hard on Coburn, too.

My team was 4/5 last night when I would sing "Age of Aquarius". Some what of a good luck charm, eh?

Didn't Bill say that Brayden Schenn has stepped up the defensive side of his game in the AHL this year?

Cheaper? Sure.
Better? Nope.
At least as good? Nope.

I think Bryz will be fine. When the puck drops again he'll be the uncontested #1 and will get a lot of playing time. I think he's better with a heavier workload.

For the most part I agree with you but the KHL hasn't helped his game or confidence.

The reason I brought up Bryz is because if bettman gets his way the Flyers are going to be in serious cap trouble. Every one way NHL contract will count against the new 20 mil less cap. So some good players will have to go.

No doubt about it. The Flyers are going to have some tough choices to make after this Season. If what has been talked about is included in the CBA.

That's another thing, the young centers will have to contribute in a big way to team defense. I think they can handle it, but then again I'm biased.

I was listening to the nhl station on sirius radio this morning on my way into work and this was one of their talking points. With Bettman's plan they could not see how all teams could be cap compliant next year. I think they were saying the cap would be set between 50 and 57 mil.

I believe this is one of the issues the players are fighting. As a Flyers fan I sure hope I am wrong.

So here's a thought. If the season gets canceled that means less players under contract for all teams next year making it easier to fit under a reduced cap. I wonder how much that is going into a decision to cancel this season or not? I do realize that those bodies have to be replaced to play the season but how many will not get re-signed and instead replaced with younger less expensive players?

It sounds like right now most of the key stakeholders are seeing red and not much else. It's sad that it has come to this point.

I just read Eric Macramalla's article on tsn.ca about the NHLs lawsuit against the NHLPA to declare the lockout legal and the NHLPA's threat to file a disclaimer of interest and now have a better understanding of what's going on and why breaking up the union would blow everythin up. I still have a hard time seeing how this would favor anyone but the owners and I'm still unclear on why the league, with the players union out of the way, couldn't set salary caps, and contract restrictions. The teams are franchises of the NHL. They pay the NHL to be part of the franchise and they are bound by a legal contract (The Constitution of the NHL) to follow rules set forth by the NHL. If there is no NHLPA hy can't the NHL set it's own rules on salaries and contracts? Why would that be illegal? And is it advantageous for the players to disband the union. In reality it would take years and cost the players $$$ to file suit against owners for anti-trust violations and there is no guarantee that they would win. What do they do in the meantime? Play in Russia? Form their own league? Could they even leagally play somewhere else? I'm sure there would be counter suits by the owners. This is all so stupid.

Now that Homeland has ended, we need to get the season started. There is nothing else of interest on TV.

Love him or hate him, over half the userbase on this site talks about the guy daily. I really don't care if you like him or not (to clarify, this is not an insult), but I think it's funny how many people get their panties in a knot over his posts.

But maybe he should be on the front page, with all the traffic he drives to the forums. poop, the ad revenue generated from username Aetherial's daily poopstream decrying the guy is probably enough to prevent ScalrBuzz from ever happening again!

So we're going to buy out Bryz and then have Leighton as a starter?

Yes, brilliant move--I love it.

Bryz beat the Pens and kept the Flyers in the Devils series, and yet you're ready to throw him off the cliff (that is fiscal).

Maybe I don't remember it correctly but weren't the pens scoring something like 4 goals a game and it just so happened the flyers were scoring 5 goals a game?

If I remember correctly, Marc Andre Fleury isn't going to get the amnesty clause.

It's almost easy to forget that trade was made. It's kind of like Jordan Staal recently saying he doesn't feel like he's really joined the Hurricanes organization yet.

Man, we could really use some hockey.

I wonder how effective Meszaros is going to be when he comes back. The Flyers are really going to need the skillset he has on the blueline.

This is all conjecture until he gets back to playing here. He could be going through the motions, collecting a paycheck, being his silly old self, etc. When he gets back to playing Flyers' games, I'll care about his confidence - which is still gauged via conjecture.
