I believe it is being bumped up to 300 mil this cba. What is it mostly the top 6 teams paying it to the bottom few - tk71
And to me $300M is a much more adequate number given the revenue discrepancies between the top and bottom teams. 4.5% is/was ridiculous given the NHL's reliance on gate receipts

Eklund: Sides Beginning to PR for Game 7. New Issues To Debate...Deal Breakers? - Eklund
Enjoyed the article, although I am for sure far, far more cynical and angry than you are. This bit really jumped out at me:
"Most feel the Cap next year, with minimum growth would likely fall around 63-65. "
These idiots can't really be up their own asses enough to actually believe that they will see "minimum growth" next year, can they? How is that possible? Haven't they been listening to anything that anyone is writing or saying?
The "casual fans" they were so close to getting in LA have forgotten they have a hockey team, let alone that they have a Cup.
The "moron fans" (*waves* Hi everyone!) who support the game no matter how much disrespect we are treated with are beyond pissed off. If the PA and owners actually manage to be hamfisted enough to turn our totally mindless, thoughtless love into hate, the NHL will need at least a decade to recover from that, and it's possible they won't recover at all. |

Uh, they never signed JVR
Finger is gone, as is Connelly Lombardi, Komisarek has maybe 1 more year? Not sure. There is nothing there that is cataclysmic and damaging the franchise going forward.
This is all just a money grab by the PA trying to avoid ever actually going to 50/50. It is BRILLIANT... they *say* they are going to 50/50 so everyone actually believes it even though it isn't true.

Hear hear! I bought a Lawrie Jersey for the Jays for this upcoming awesomeness of an MLB season. I could have gone Reyes, Morrow, Bautista, Dic key, etc..... We finally have a team worth watching in Toronto!!! Point being I am buying MLB jersey's, MLB centre ice equivalent, and my ticket money is going to the Dome! I can't afford to support all this with two major league sports. |

I should have wrote a team worth watching since 1993. Donald (frank)ing Fehr ruined baseball after that for many years. Is history repeating??? Those 3 outfielders were awesome! In Canada we know Hockey and Barfield, Moseby, Bell, Carter, and yes Kelly Gruber! |

One thing I've learned - who I vote for doesn't change anything, but where I spend my money does (also, to whom I give my labour). And that's an excellent point, even the high-and-mighty Leafs can expect to lose out on competition for entertainment dollars from sports fans with the team the Jays are putting together!
And in a totally unrelated note, it bugs me that the spellcheck underlines the "ou's" in honour, colour, etc. I refuse to learn to spell incorrectly just to please some damn preachy computer program!
