It worked last year...and the most important player on the team, Price, isn't playing, he won't come out of a short camp top shape. The D sucks and Gomez and Bourque are still there I'll take a pick in the top 10, hopefully closer to top 5. What are the odds Cole and Pacs repeat in a short season......slim. |

Mike Babcock said hockey could turn into bowling. Hard to argue with him. |

I was just thinking why wasnt DP the first name to be mentioned along with the word amnesty next to it haha.
I see your idea with that. But why would the Isles trade draft picks if they could just buy DP out anyway? Unless they wanted to trade DP plus picks and then buyout Yashin? - Dedshark
because it is a lot of cash for a "small market" team. |

I'm not necessarily against the idea, I'm just saying that it will benefit the bigger teams more than the smaller ones. The only thing I am really against is GMs throwing big money at average players, then having the ability to drop the player from their cap half way through the deal. If you are stupid enough to sign Scott Gomez to a $7M per year deal, you should be stuck with it (unless you can get some chump to trade for him, oops).
Do teams get to do this one time only, or once a season? So long as they limit the number of times a team can do this, it should work OK. - niedermayer27
For the NBA: One player can be waived prior to the start of any season from 2011–12 through 2015–16. It can be exercised during the seven days that follow the July moratorium.[a][9] Each team is restricted to one "amnestied" player during that time. Only players signed prior to 2011–12 are eligible |

Limiting it to players signed before the most recent CBA is a good clause. |

You don't get it. You don't understand. I understand. You don't. It's quite simple. I am here, getting it. You are there, not getting it. So don't kid yourself. If there is anyone who gets it, it's me. If there is anyone who doesn't get it, it's everyone not being me
