I don't even bother contesting the suggestion, it comes up so often. People were calling for an amnesty on Bryz's contract before there was even a lockout, so I doubt it's going to change. I think the fact of the matter is that Philadelphia's desired a starting goaltender for so long, that nothing short of an instantly successful absolute miracle worker will impress.
That said, I feel like using an amnesty on Bryz knowing Leighton becomes our starter seems like cutting off our nose to spite our face. - BulliesPhan87
It is also a bit ironic how his second to last NHL game resulted in this

Im watching the USA juniors vs. Sweden juniors. Gostisbehre is in there. He's playing on the first power play unit. Seems pretty tentative out there. Got caught in no mans land on the blue line where he either had to charge to pinch the puck or back off completely. He did neither and just coasted, nearly giving up a clean odd man rush. He is getting manhandled on the wall in his own end. Other than that he handles the puck well. |

Actually, if the NHL doesn't reverse the over-35 rule, the easy choice is Pronger. Not the classiest thing to do, but it gives you and extra $4.9M during the summer for the next handful of years. - jmatchett
The question becomes would an injured player be eligible. If he is, as long as Pronger gets paid, then I don't see a problem with it. |

Third to last, he had a regular season start (v. Kings) and a playoffs start (v. Buffalo). Maybe next time you should do a little research |

For this franchise, at least, solid centers are an abundant resource. That said, I like Danny B on this team, I think he brings a real competitive element to the team's personality. - BulliesPhan87
Me as well.. He is very important in the locker... He can play on any top three lines and PP unit, and is also very good in the shootout. Still.. if I had a gun to my head and was told to choose either Bryz or Danny to be amnestied... Danny 8 days a week.
poop.. Imagine if Leighton got hurt |

As long as they would allow it, and he we to be paid, nor would I.
I dont expect it to be a possibility though. Hell I doubt amnesty ends up being an option at all. |

Don't write this possibility off just yet. If Mr. PLind were here, now would be a perfect time for him to remind us of our luck with extremely inconvenient injuries, as he often has. |

I knew the 1 year rule was in the old CBA, that's why I was wondering if they'd be able to trade his rights if the PA decertifies. - jmatchett

I only saw the second period onward, but Gostisbehere was the best D-man for Team USA out there; even excluding his GWG in overtime.

He's a good player. But I don't think he's a #1 defenseman. - MJL
He's solid and a decent compliment to a #1 |

No doubt about that. When he first came to the Flyers he had one nice offensive Season. But then I don't know if it was because the Flyers asked him to concentrate on the defensive end of the ice or whatever, but his offensive game kind of went away. It would be nice if he could get that back.

Perhaps Kimmo has helped him mentally or even Pronger especially prior to his injury.

Would have to agree. He was skating like the wind out there showing great poise with the puck.. not to mention what a shot on that game winner; couldn't fit it through a much smaller shooting lane than that. |
