It really does, but outside of that, there's not much depth. I want to know what happened to MacKinnon, though. He used to be an absolute solid lock for 1st, and he's losing it quickly.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

No idea. Both he and Barkov seemed to have gone missing. I also expected Dougie Hamilton to be a more dominant player for Canada. Its weird.

i actually agree with you on something which is surprising. ryan murphy is garbage. his feet move faster then his hands do and he losses the puck all the time, gets really annoying. i am sure there are many other capable defenseman canada could have brought to this tournament. such a one-dimensional player and that dimension he is terrible at. Would have rathered Dumba, Pouliot or even Sproule, not to mention Ceci and others that weren't even invited to the camp.
- matt1337

I've heard about him forever (seems like 3 years at least). Was he drafted really young by Carolina?

I'm not talking about stats; I just mean he plays a lot like Drouin.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

I guess they have a similar style, but Drouin is 100x better.

He's in fourth line role and so the minutes aren't there. Drouin on the other hand has been getting second line minutes. Regardless of how this tournament ends ill be surprised if Mackinnon doesn't go 1st overall

Exactly.

I'd be inclined to say MacKinnon goes 1 and Drouin goes 2 with how well Drouin has played all year and specifically in this tournament.

MacKinnon and Barkov are both a week from being in the 2014 draft as well. They're two of the youngest players in the draft.

I'm not talking about the tourney. He's been slipping for a few months now, when he was an absolute lock for #1.

I have already admitted that I was too hard on him. Regardless, he still doesn't look NHL ready to me.

There really is no reason to be hostile. You seem to think that differing opinions are attacks on you personally. Trust me, they are not.

He's a big homer. Ull get used to it. Ur not allowed to inject reality into any conversation involving any oiler or oil king player. They're all the best.. Ever

He thought we should take reinhart over yakupov at one point last year.

This year he wanted us to take lazar even if we get a top ten pick!!!!... Coincedence?hmmm

Fact is, reinhart is one of our poorer defencemen at present. and alot of People thought he shouldnve been picked in the first place and made it on draft pedigree alone.
Debateable i guess

Probably partially biased but I doubt Spott is going to put Reinhart out there for a 6-on-4 at the end of the game, up only a goal, if he's been one of you're poorer defensemen.

Only knock on Drouin I can think of is size. However, he has the ability to avoid checks and mesmerize people with his stick handling, similar to the nuge. I haven't seen him put himself in one bad/awkward situation to get nailed. His head is always up and on a swivel. Very high IQ. Hypothetically speaking, if I was picking second overall, still not sure if I take Drouin over Jones or Barkov.

True. It's impressive in their own right that they are barely 17 and playing in a 19 year olds tournament.

True enough, very good point. Makes what Drouin is doing even more impressive as he is just months apart in age from them.

I actually think his list is alright for December, aside from the Jones at 1 spot.

"- I've got a nickel to bet on Nugent-Hopkins and Yakupov colliding knee-on-knee halfway though the 1st period tomorrow morning, with both players requiring surgery and lost for the rest of the season. Why? Because they're Oilers."

now teams are gonna have to really think about this kid, because the last time an undersized French kid with slick hands got passed over a few times due to size...his name was Claude Giroux and he just put up 93 points.....so teams really need to really take a good look at Drouin, i just dont think you can overlook Barkov at 3rd, so i'd put Drouin at 4th

Nugent-Hopkins looks like a Sakic out there. I can only hope that Edmonton will (frank) it up somehow and he will demand a trade. History is on my side.

I can agree with that. Size is an issue if that player is constantly kept to the perimeter and can't get to the inside to do damage. Doesn't appear to be the case for Drouin.

I think Drouin would look good on Galchenyuk's wing and the fact he is French Canadian would make it an even better fit. Although Barkov would be just as good of a choice as you guys could use another big centre behind Galchenyuk.

As an Oiler fan I hope we get Barkov or Monahan.

He's 5'11", he will fill out his 176lb size over the next few years to a more NHL frame, he's only 17 after all. I think Jones is the most hyped player in the draft and he isn't delivering. He's playing top pairing minutes and turning the puck over at a Usain Bolt pace while coributing nothing offensively outside of the Germany game.
