He's 5'11", he will fill out his 176lb size over the next few years to a more NHL frame, he's only 17 after all. I think Jones is the most hyped player in the draft and he isn't delivering. He's playing top pairing minutes and turning the puck over at a Usain Bolt pace while coributing nothing offensively outside of the Germany game. - trolleytracks
I would expect Drouin to end up at 6' and 190-195 which isn't bad for someone with his talent. It's not like he is 5'8-9" and 165. |

Probably partially biased but I doubt Spott is going to put Reinhart out there for a 6-on-4 at the end of the game, up only a goal, if he's been one of you're poorer defensemen. - eichiefs9
Fair enough. My post was less about how bad Reinhart is, but just more about that hes been far from great...all year.
As far as playing late, hes a big body defensive guy and no one outside harrington on our backend has been real good. So Not alot of options.
Dissapointed in our supposed 1 dman hamilton too. Looks slowish on the big ice, not that physical for his size etc. |

Not that I get to see him a ton, but I've never seen anything that blew me away from Murphy. I think he's been awful so far this tournament. |

I've seen him in Kitchener a few times. He has never been good at defence, but he is embarrassing himself offensively. He is capable of so much more, but even I have to admit that I am sick of seeing him on the ice.
He was brought in as a PP specialist, but the pathetic thing is the PP is better off without him right now. |

i think no matter what ppl have to say about Jones he's gonna end up going 1st or 2nd no matter what, think about how high Victor Hedman for example was picked or just to compare similar sized players we can look at Tyler Myers too, to be honnest i'm not sure either of those 2 were as good at 18 as this WHL rookie Jones is (already playing at a point per game pace) defensemen with that kind of size and upside in both ends of the ice are usually picked HIGH for their potential not for immediate impact, you can look at all the best BIG men type D in the league right now they didnt blow the league away for a few years but when they finally ARE ready they become rocks for their teams to build around, you can look at Pronger, Chara and Webber as examples that took a few years but then were completely dominant i think scouts see Jones in that way only he skates better than even the previously mentioned bunch...(at least at that age) so i doubt he fits the overhyped category as some are trying to claim
that being said, as of right now in this tourney he's definetly trying to do too much and he's having to learn quickly, jones is probably more NHL ready right now than any of the other top 5 picks since he probably doesnt have to adjust his game too much having the grown man size he already has, experience is really all he needs at this point |

Correct I like how I am called a homer when Spot the coach of Kitchener Rangers uses him in the tough situations.
Some people think if a defenseman doesn't score ll the time he is a poor defenseman, where as a tough defensive defenseman is just as important.
Tha of course is just my opinion, the kiddies of the world has there. |

No matter how much I want to care and actually really get emotionally interested in the game, I just can't.
The Olympics are a totally different story, but the world juniors seems really over-hyped to me, especially this year since everyone's so desperate for hockey. |

I agree with NHL players not being eligible. Maybe put a game limit, say if you played 25 games in NHL you're not eligible. - adambuffalo
I disagree with this. You should be able to take any kid available in the age group. Making NHL players ineligible serves only to punish the countries that have the best players. It should be the best on the best, shouldn't it? If one team has a player or two who are just that much better than everyone else, well, that's sports. |

This year is an anomally. There is no reason to punish a player because he is under twenty and good.Hockey is a more global game and everyone else has the same opportunities.Alot of these european kids play in pro leagues as they develope.Without a lockout this is normally a non issue. |

Ya +3 1 assist and 4 pm is barely able to play against the best kids in the >20 age range in the world.
The one thing that can be said for a defenseman if your not being noticed your doing your job.
But since your opinion is everything from out east is better than anything from the west then you can keep it.
I believe the Islanders are quite happy with his developement this year being named to the world juniors, being named captian of the Oil Kings and playing against the top lines in the WHL.
Myself I am happy with him.
I also think Xavier Oullet and Scott Harrington are also having a good tourney. - longbottom
I read what he wrote and I didn't see that anywhere. Is this just what Western Canadians assume every time someone east of Manitoba doesn't like something that came from the west? Get over yourself. |

Again, I am unsure of what you expect from Reinhart, he's a defensive minded player, he isn't Reilly. He's the guy you want paired with Reilly, because he keeps his own end safe. |

I don't think they have set up an easier schedule for themselves, they still have to play the same teams as Canada. They've just set it up so that their game are at primetime (6pm Ufa=7am Edmonton/5am Toronto). - Ben37
Yes, they play the same teams, it's WHEN the Russians play certain teams.
Heading into the tournament, Group B's ranking was:
1. Canada
2. Russia
3. USA
4. Slovakia
5. Germany.
- Game 1: Russia vs. Slovaks = Not the worst opponent, but not CAN or US either.
- Russian's have day off to rest
Game 2: Russia vs. US = This is the US' second game of a back-to-back. Most likely the easier of the two games vs. CAN & US
Game 3: Russia vs. Germany = Russian plays the second game of a back-to-back against arguably the weakest team in the tournament
- Russian's have day off to rest
Game 4: Russia vs. Canada = This is Canada's second game of a back-to-back, after just playing the US. Russia knows that Canada is likely their toughest opponent in the pool. Russia also knows the rivalry between CAN/US and hopes that they beat the sh1t out of each other.
No my friend, it's brutally obvious that Russia stacked the schedule. What a coincidence that Russia plays BOTH Canada and the US after a days rest, while both teams meet Russia on the second games of their B-2-Bs. Furthermore, they save Canada for last so they know EXACTLY what the big picture looks like and hopes Canada/US the have hurt/exhausted each other just the day before.
I guarantee that Sochi will be even more obvious. |

All the kids on Canada's team play more than one back to back in CHL, sometimes they play 3 games in 3 nights. They can handle it. If you ask me Canada go a pretty easy schedule in that got the Germans and Slovaks in the first two games so they could work out the kinks and be prepared for the Americans and Russians. |

Now, you may be completely right, but when I look at last year's schedule, I see EXACTLY the same thing in Canada's favour. Literally, in that schedule, switch the words Russia with Canada, Canada with the US, and the US with Czech Republic (as the pool Canada was in had Canada, US, Czech, Finland and Denmark), and you have last years schedule, to the day.
Also, I thought the rankings used last year's results, and in that case, wouldn't Russia be the top ranked team in the pool? |

Seriously
Those (frank)ing sneaky Canadians made sure to take Finland out first, then they had a day of rest to play the always darkhorse of Czech Republic. Then they picked Denmark to play in the game after to claim the schedule is fair. They then had a two day break to face their arch-rival America on New Years Eve after forcing the US to play a game against the Czech's the day before.

Got me Seriously if they let you choose the schedule why not let it favour you? It's all nice to be noble, but if you lose you lose. Plus we've had the tournaments here in Canada more often than not since we make it work with our love of it and money, so we run it usually. |
