Well Fehr advises them, and considering 85% or more of the players are highly uneducated they go along with what he says because they have no idea what hes talking about other than the main issues. But just like with Goodenow, there will be chinks in the armor as more time goes by.

What fans dont understand is that the PA isnt just a handful of people. Its a collection of guys at various ages and pay rates. Not all want to be locked out for even a minute, and not all want to take anything the owners give them. There are over 700 members, and its impossible to please them all. They're having trouble agreeing on what to settle for and when. They arent uneducated enough to not notice they dont have a paycheck coming in.

Considering the owners locked out a season, and eventually lost a season, to get a salary cap speaks volumes. The reason being because the players walked away the winners. Hardly uneducated at all, and they beat the owners by winning the smaller issues, not the main issue.

I never once said that.

The point is, if the players truly want to play, they will play. Fehr cant stop them, he can only advise them.

Just like my lawyer can only advise me, but he doesnt control me.

For those who think the players are too stupid, well, they're just being idiots. The players are smart enough to know they arent collecting paychecks. When the majority have had enough, they will over run Fehrs advice. Just like the NHL owners are telling Bettman they want a season, and to get a deal done.

- Gunslinger

yes but the players should recognize that they are basically fighting for 10% of the players in the NHL. The other 90% won't have salary rollbacks, or 8 year contracts, so if I were them I would have told Fehr enough is enough but he is doing something to keep those guys in check.

There is more to a CBA than that.

Like the variance, entry level deals, escrow, salary cap, salary floor, age of free agency etc etc etc

You're not them, so dont act like you know what they're thinking. Besides, being "them" means thinking like 700 different people. Pointless.

The players got the better end of the deal the last CBA. This isnt a matter of whether you agree with me or not. Its a matter of whether you're intelligent enough to understand why they won.

They won because they got 57% of revenue, leaving the owners with only 43%

They won because they lowered the age of unrestricted free agency

They won because they kept their guaranteed contracts

They won because they tied the cap to league revenue, which raised the cap and the floor every year

They won because they made more money than ever before

They won because they created loopholes that would allow owners to spend like drunken sailors

There is more than that, but you can educate yourself on the rest.

So keeping what they already had is a win? No

They lost alot more money by having a cap in place. Imagine how much more they could have made with no cap. Thats not winning.

They did not purposefully create a loophole. No Fact here.

They didnt lose more money due to the cap. While the cap limited some teams in their spending, the cap also created a floor, which forced some teams to spend more than they wanted to or could afford to. The fact the cap is now around 70 million did little to curb spending. Before the lockout, the highest team payroll was in that range.

Whether on purpose or not, the owners used that loophole to over pay for players. Meaning players were able to make more than they should have. Win for them. That part is a fact.

They also lowered free agency age limits and so on. That is not "keeping what they had"

So you think the islanders would be spending $40M against the cap every year if not for this CBA? they would have a $20M payroll, as would many other teams.

Does not seem like that would be in the best interest of a healthy league would it. If many teams were only spending 20 mill. while Toronto is spending 100 mill

They didnt benefit from the Cap. They benefited despite having a Cap. Which is why the players came out ahead.
