They didnt benefit from the Cap. They benefited despite having a Cap. Which is why the players came out ahead. - Gunslinger
So they made more money with a Cap than they would have? |

Does not seem like that would be in the best interest of a healthy league would it. If many teams were only spending 20 mill. while Toronto is spending 100 mill - Cheeseballin
No more than it would be in the best interest of a healthy league to keep teams in markets where its just not working. Or owners are not committed to winning. |

They made more money than the owners wanted to give them. They made more money than the owners thought they would get when they put the Cap in place. |

No, just the weakest of the weak links. 2-3 of them would be enough to make a significant difference. Relocation, not contraction. |

Don Fehr just spoke. Says NHL made a counter. NHLPA will look at it internally and both sides will meet again tomorrow at some point |

So keeping what they already had is a win? No
They lost alot more money by having a cap in place. Imagine how much more they could have made with no cap. Thats not winning.
They did not purposefully create a loophole. No Fact here. - Cheeseballin
their salaries have increased dramatically. many owners are still losing money.
players won. this isn't rocket science. |

Revenue sharing is close to a done deal. The NHLPA move in the direction of the NHL by accepting a 10 year CBA with certain conditions.

The NHL will not give any feedback to the union until the disclaimer deadline has passed.
That will eliminate the players from filing anti-trust lawsuits. Just as i expected the NHL would do.
So now that the players won't be able to take that route, they have 2 choices - accept a new deal or disband the union - the latter of course would take months upon months in court to clear that mess up.
So in other words, the NHL knows the PA doesn't want to go down that route which means the NHL is still going to come out on top because the players will have no choice but to sign this deal.
Make no mistake, the timing of the NHL's comeback is no coincidence, they want that Jan 2 deadline out the window before they make any other moves. - newmy
If the deadline passes, all the players need to do is vote again and they'll have another chance to disband...sorry if this was already pointed out, i didnt read every response... |
