I only wish Spott saw what you , me an MacKenzie see
In Rielly...he would grow to insane proportions if given
Even reasonable icetime..

The homer poop with his boy Murphy is ridiculous...
And Reinhart is another liability

- robbies

I agree. Spott plays favorites. Even the camp was a joke. Had his team picked before camp started. However so far he seems to have pushed the right buttons

Hamilton will not become a better NHL'er than Nuge. Heck, Hamilton won't even turn out to be the best NHL defenseman in the group. Rielly easily wins that honor.
- Maxbone

Ouellet was drafted by the Wings. I believe he'll be the best NHL defenseman in the group.

be careful there Haas. To quote Mackenzie. Nuge should dominate this tourny. Only 2 players have ever played in this tournament after a full NHL season as per Mackenzie. Both players had very good rookie seasons. They were Berger on and Daigle. He said both were dominate in the tourny as well. Yet neither are top line nhlers.
I'm not saying Nuge won't be great. But I think you should be a little more modest

- Bieksa#3

WTF are you even talking about?

Daigle was drafted TWO DECADES AGO. He is completely irrelevant to recent history.

Bergeron is a great player.

Nuge is already a first line NHL'er, and not even 20 yet.

Hamilton has not even played his first pro game yet, and while i think he will be good. There is 0 evidence at this point that he will be even half the player that Nuge has already proven to be.

If anyone is making a bold, and unfounded claim it is you!

Yep. He's been Canada's next-best D man after Rielly.

There's a difference between giving up on a guy and suggesting you move him to acquire a high-end player who would fill a roster need. Oilers have two solid Top 6 RW's in Eberle and Hemsky. Tobias Rieder could turn into another Hemsky in a few years. And it's not as if Hemsky is old about to retire right away.

Edmonton's depth on the RW might be the only position they have an abundance of. We know the D need to be better, and we know the forward group is too small physically, especially at center.

Creating a winning hockey team is all about asset management and organizational depth. In suggesting Yakupov could be turned into something else, I'm not at all suggesting he's a bad player. He's a great player. We just need other things more.

- Maxbone

While this is all fine and great, it only really works if there is no salary cap. Can the Oilers afford to take on veteran/proven player salary with the cap rumoured to be dropping, or are they not better off with Yaks entry level deal?

Also, if you're not giving up on Yak, why is he always the one being traded in your scenarios? While Hemsky isnt about to retire, he also isnt about ready to be healthy for long stretches especially as he gets older.

Daigle had 20 goals and 50 points in his rookie season while playing on a sens team that was probably the worst team of our generation. How did that all play out? Bergeron dominated this tourny more then nuge in a yr that had the 3 best NHL players currently playing in it.

You know what this post is missing? Logic.

Have you and Mac ever stopped to think that its because there isnt a lock out every season to allow guys like RNH to leave their club to play in a tournament?

First place in their pool, undefeated, and you guys are still female doging about Corrado not making it? He wasn't even the last guy cut. Had they not taken Murphy, it wouldn't have been Corrado. Why would they want to risk winning the pool by taking Corrado?

You guys will just have to get used to it. He's just not good enough.

clearly nuge = daigle right? lol he'll never be a top line player
- HamrlikMyPeca

The guy is just giving you facts, he's not making this up or giving his opinion, he's just saying that he may not become a superstar.

I personally believe he will be closer to a superstar than a bust. I also believe the oilers will be a team to reckon with for years to come. Hopefully they will figure out a way to manage the salaries. I am just not sure how they will be able to keep all these players down the road. Having said that, trading Yaks now before you know what you have out of all of your assets is dumb.

You don't trade any of them until you have a real idea of what all these players will become in a couple of years. Anything other than a player like a Shea Weber just makes no sense right now. Obviously that's not gonna happen (and no clouts it's not because the oilers won't add Gagner to the deal, because you think his value is so high)

Its sad, really. I guess some Oiler followers are spoiled having such solid young talent that they no longer appreciate what they really have.

did you see Leaf fans whine for months when Team Canada didn't take Jesse Blacker?

You'll just have to settle for him being in the mix for the 2018 Olympic team, remember????

USA has no chance against Canada?

As long as USA (or should I say Gibson) manages to keep these games low scoring, anything can happen.

Well, since Blacker is a little better than Corrado, I guess that means Corrado should never have been invited?
