Agreed, the US seemed a little snakebit in both the Canada and Russia games, although much more so in the Russia game. It wasn't like they were totally shut down. They had chances. They just couldn't/didn't bury them. My guess, like Richard's, is that they beat the Czechs and then lose to the Canadians, but "no chance" is a little farfetched. That being said, Canada just seems to have their number.

Student loan... Payment = Pre-authorized debit. $$$ to be taken out on Dec 31st... They take out payment today (because of the holidays I'm assuming), and I'm charged interest somehow. What a load of dog sh1t...

Anyone else paying off a student loan and also get charged interest?

I've heard stories of people having money taken from their bank accounts after their loans have been paid off 10-15 years ago. Crazy...

Thats why I never do direct anything. Never allow anyone access to your accounts. It might be a pain in the nuts, but its better to pay at your discretion and know exactly whats going on that to just let them take it. That way you also at least have a chance to challenge/argue the charges and hopefully have them fix it.

Oh I'll be calling tomorrow and giving them a piece of my mind

EDIT: Actually the payment came out on the 31st (when it was due) and they decided to charge me interest on it today -- After it had been paid. Makes sense.

I definitely will

I'd imagine they did this to everyone too. Good way for them to make a lot of extra money.

Well, it turns out I was wrong, but it was a good thing I called. They don't charge extra for paying late (which I did not)... They have a set daily interest charge. Anyway, after looking at my file, they were charging me the wrong amount... I wonder how many people they do that too?

I had my loan deposited 3 times last week.
Sadly they caught and corrected the error and took 2 of em back.

So Canada wins the Spengler. Dubey in the net for all the wins. I am having a hard time finding actual stats there but he let in 3 goals in 56 shots over the last two games. Wonder if Lahey is relaxing his stance on Dubey and his "inability to win when games matter"?

EDIT: 3 games, 1.25GAA, .956sv%

Maybe they should use international size ice over here for Dubey then.

His game reminds me a lot of Ovechkin. Tries so hard when he has the puck but if the puck isn't on his stick he just seems to coast out there.

Seems like he needs faster and more talented linemates too succeed. Which shouldn't be a problem in Edmonton. I'd like to see Russia put him and Grigorenko on a line together.

Agree with all except for Dano. Personally I would put Scheifele as the RWer. Cannot argue with anyone else though

Of course they'd catch on to anything that may benefit the student. If they were (frank)ing you over, they wouldn't notice it until you called (frank)ers...

Hamilton will not become a better NHL'er than Nuge. Heck, Hamilton won't even turn out to be the best NHL defenseman in the group. Rielly easily wins that honor.
- Maxbone

I like Hamilton but I agree he will not have a better career than some of the others on the team. I put him at number 3. Nuge is hard to bet against at being the best at this point. Simple numbers. He even looked like he was coasting if not injured in the USA game and still put in an amazing goal.

I think the most under rated dman in the tournament is Seth Jones for the US. I am making the mistake of watching these games live and thus I am sleep deprived but he seemed to be everywhere you wanted him to be. Reminded me of Doughty with his heads up play and ability to create offense. Plus he is HUGE at 6-4.

I got it! I know who Yakupov reminds me of:

Nails Yakupov = Jason Blake

I cant believe no one gives the usa a chance in the knockout round. Yeah they lost 2-1 to can/russia but were in both games and gibson is as good as any goalie in the tournament. I dont know if they can beat canada but they certainly have a chance. The top 4 def on the usa team is the best in the tournament. If any forwards other than galchenyuk get it going they can beat anyone. To me they were a much tougher test for canada than russia. I only see can or usa winning this tournament.
- camby

Gibson's great, for sure. Right now I see Sweden as the biggest obstacle for Canada, followed by America then Russia. It's actually really too bad that Sweden doesn't have their, what, 4 best defenders or something? I'd rather watch Canada play the healthy Swedes, but whatcha gonna do? Russia seems sort of like the LA Kings did most of the season and the Canucks did in the playoffs - disorganized, demoralized, confused and tentative while still being fit and possessing elite skill and great goaltending. If the Russians sort out whatever their major malfunction is *cough*coaching*cough* they could score 5 goals in the third, no problem. No country has ever been able to touch Russia when it comes to pure goalscoring.

That's right. I said it. Quote that sucker!
