Either this blogger is eating Lead paint chips or he's the second coming of Andy Kauffman? Which one I leave up to you guys?
- Artyukhin76

No amount of lead paint chips could lead to this, I'm going with the latter.

I hear he has the cure for cancer, and when he has time during the off season he will begin animal testing.

Obviously Garth is trolling, because no one can actually believe that. Almost the entire Russian team has been a mess, and Grigorenko is no exception. This is the second time they’ve barely squeaked through a game against a second tier team. Their goaltending, for the most part, has been pretty stellar. Yarullin and Kucherov have been pretty damn good. Otherwise, just about every player there has been a disappointment, and not done what people thought they were capable of.

Nice shootout goal by Jesus Crenko.

He looked like he was walking on water out there. Frozen water.

I don't know if I'd call the Swiss a second tier team. They took Sweden to a shootout and they've played some close games against Canada and USA in the past, but I do see your point.

Plus the fact he says Grigorenko scored the shootout winner when it was Kucherov that scored the shootout winner, not to mention the tying goal.

- ruttager17

Kucherov is one of the very few Russians you can say has actually impressed all tournament.

The Swiss are definitely a second tier team. They are, without a doubt, not amongst the Canada, US, Russia, Sweden caliber teams of the hockey world. Take a look at the number of drafted players they have on the team, compared to the rest of those teams.

They have a history, due to the type of game they play, of the occasional big time upset, and they’ve played well this tournament, but they’re a second tier team, for sure.

Funny that almost all the people comenting negatively on Grigorenko are edmonton, toronto, and montreal fans. All teams that had the chance to draft him. HATERS GONNA HATE THO

I think calling him a complete "player" really diminishes what he has to offer.

He's more than a hockey player.

He has the ability to bring all people together in the spirit of love, goodwill and admiration of the city of Buffalo.

I just hope his diplomatic missions don't interfere with his hockey playing.

But I'm just being silly - he can solve the mid-East crisis in a couple of days, and not miss training camp.

Not that he needs training camp...

- Atomic Wedgie

Well assuming that all that is written is true we should also get him on the CBA negotiations. I think the mid-east crisis should have served as a nice warm up for this

After exhaustive negotiations that strained the country's patience, Mikhail Grigorenko approved a bill to avert the dreaded fiscal cliff, staving off widespread tax increases and deep spending cuts.

So he will test it on Armia and McCabe?

Because those guys have been absolute beasts out there on the ice during this tournament!

Good God.

As a Sabres fan, Garth, I am embarrassed.

How does 19-year old Russian taste, anyway?

Nobody is commenting negatively on Grigorenko.

We are commenting negatively on Garth.

And yes, the Leafs had a chance to draft Garth - we passed.

We stand by our decision.

Grigorenko is fine, he is a top rated prospect. No hate for him. Garth's comments are just hilarious though. I have to assume that Garth is also in on the joke and puts these blogs out there just for fun. A spoof blog of sorts, right? He can't actually be serious?

If I had told you before this tournament started that he wouldn’t break the top 10 in scoring, and would get one goal through nearly the entire tournament, would you have said “that’s great!”? Obviously not. Most of the big name Russian forwards have not lived up to the hype. That’s just a fact.

I don't think any Habs fans are regretting the Galchenyuk pick!
Also... I think it has more to do with the massive boner Garth has for this kid who has yet to play one professional game.
If he shows up in the league and pots 30 goals in 30 games... then it would be warranted.

Based on this tournament, without a doubt. It’s just a stretch of 6 or 7 games though, it’s not everything.

Galchenyuk has been absolutely on a tear in the OHL too though. Through November and December, he put up insane points.
