Considering the significance Lincoln had on race relations, it seems almost impossible that grown adults, black or white wouldn't have some clue as to the history of their own country and the gravity of one presidents actions.

There were some concerns this morning with HRR package sent by league to players. NHLPA upset because it believes penalties for "hiding" HRR were very weak. Some of this afternoon's discussions will be clarifications on this and other "language" issues.

An afternoon discussion on HRR. We are full circle.

To the owners and NHLPA:

Is this clarification enough for you?

Oh my Lord.

I saw one even worse a few years ago; they were asking major league ballplayers - yes, including black ones - if they knew who Jackie Robinson was.

A lot of them didn't.

How is that even possible?

I have heard very little of whats going on and alot of what I hear im not even sure is 100% accurate. Im not implying the media is ignorant, im just wondering if the info they get from the sides isnt "posturing"

the whole "athletes are stupid" stereotype exists for a very simple reason. it's because athletes are stupid.

well idk about that, when you have low payroll you have to be almost perfect to make a difference in the league.

they also can not sign any high caliber players...do you think the Pirates just traded one of the best closers in baseball to the Red Sox because it was a good baseball move?

Actually I can see the leafs being a little more creative than that. Maybe something like. Komi to NYI and 4th for Dipietro and their 1st.

Or even something with Tampa for their 1st. They would love to get rid of Vinny, and can that afford to buy him out? Leafs could ... let him play for the shorten season and buy him out over the summer. If he wants to Bolt back to the Bolts for lesser - let him.

Rich teams can afford making moves like this.

- dreamblue

And there you go. CBA loopholes that everyone will later cry about.. They don't anticpate too many players being bought out and this will increase that number and increase $ spent on players.

It wouldn't be good for the competitive balance of the NHL.

But as a Leafs fan, I'd support it!

U really think Rogers and Bell are interested in calling that bluff??...Remember they are already losing a poop load of money from no hockey ...

This is going to explode and the result will be a much smaller league when the dust settles..

Wait...

WTF is wrong with that??...

- Fruitcakenipple

I am not sure about Rogers but as for Bell I don't think they really care. I was talking to someone at Bell about my nhl package. I mentioned that if the NHL starts up this year I have no interest in paying for this season but would probably pay for it again next year. I mentioned that I heard one of the NHL analysts or someone talk about what the NHL might want to do to get fans back because of the lockout and said one of them said free NHL package for existing customers. I wasn't sure if Bell would be too keen on that but he told me they wouldn't really care because the NHL gets pretty much all of the money from the NHL package subscriptions anyways.

I lived in Florida for a few years. My son went to high school there.

In answer to your question of how this is even possible, you only need to look at their educational system.

Pathetic...... and i'm being generous in using that

lunch, seems like they players are outraged about something different everyday...they are just stalling until the last minute to get the best deal, at all our expense
- flashfire

Yep, and the owners won't give their last offer until then. They probably should have given their final offer to the players in Jan of 2012 and waited until now to see they would take it. It would have saved a boat load of money.
