From my understanding there is no indication that the anit trust motions would work. The courts would take years to get all of those motions completed.
- HipHopisDead

You are right but the league doesn't want to end up in court for months/years and the cost of penalties are insane if found guilty.

Are the players seriously voting on this disclaimer again at 6pm that they say will end in 48 hours ?

All I can say is wow if this is true!

I think these players seriously need to follow the path down the yellow brick road to hopefully find the wizard and ask for a brain !

they want something in their back pocket to push the NHL at the 11th hour next week.

There is NO respect by either side, they will use ANYTHING they can to gain leverage and get the best deal possible. They will have a deal by sometime next week but if fans ever thought they were valued and important for either side, don't kid yourself.

Fans are taken for granted by both side.....

Dont expect u to agree...
- Fruitcakenipple

I agree with the sentiment, I thought it was fool hardy to spend all that money, but the fact is the Wild's salary cap payroll is still within the cap ceiling, and even if next years cap ceiling is $60 million, they'll be under that as well with over $14 million coming off the books. I just don't think you're justified in saying this is the "reason" why we have no hockey.

It's hilarity Symba....downright hilarity now.

The owners are not going to flinch because of the threat of this. That is why I said the players need to follow the yellow brick road.

Had so much power the first time Bettman and Daly ignored it.

I am quite certain the second time around they are even more fearful LOL!

The calendar is the big motivating factor, for both sides, nothing else.

Both sides know full well they are not going down the years long path of anti-trust with no guarantees for either side at the end.

Something to consider about those penalties:

- it's 3X contracts.

But 40% of NHLPA members are currently without contracts.

So it's great for 60% of the guys.

And for the rest, you forfeit 1 to 2 years of salaries, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

And that's the best case scenario. There's a good chance you win nothing.

well i think half of this lockout is just about (frank)ing with Gary Bettman. essentially the players are paying to make his life miserable.

I don't think it holds a huge amount of power but I could say the exact same of the threats of the league to cancel the season at this point, with what's on the table.

Ha, I just knew they were going to cite the 2001 2nd circuit case E.R. Squibb & Sons, Inc. vs. Lloyd's and Co's.

Classic Fehr!

In my opinion, this isn't going to work.

(OK, I'm bluffing)

I agree with the sentiment.

I only wish I could be there when each of them realizes how stupid they have been.

I was going to write about the costs (legal and Penalties)... and I agree with you... I just don't see it wiggin out the owners. I think the owners just don't want to lose a season but they might for the right price.

I have no idea what's going
just waiting for mid next week and hopefully there is a deal done by then.

I am inclined to agree except that it seems that the PA is asking for contracting terms almost as bad as before AND they want hundreds of millions more AND they want cost uncertainty in the future for the owners AND they want a shorter CBA...

I believe there is a deadline for season cancellation if the owners do not get whatever it is that they can live with, which we don't know yet exactly... but I bet they do

U dont think that the 2 contracts handed out this summer by the Wild GM isn't part of the reason we have no Hockey today?

Deep down i would love for this to end in the courts as it would be interesting to see a judge rule on the 2 monster contracts handed out just weeks before the lockout started..

The PA blinked last night.
The league didn't.

Let's just see what happens
