I'd like to think so, but he's 5'6. Danny is 5'10, and he's considered small. Theoren Fleury was 5'6, but he's the exception. He'll probably get there, but I'm not sure he'll be able to handle the physical game. - jmatchett
Bro- if Briere is 5'10" then I'm 6'7"....Buffalo has that one tiny kid |

Danny is 5'10 with wedges in his skates and after several large glasses of milk. Johnny Hockey might be one of those exceptions, although in today's hockey game (or perhaps last years hockey) smaller players may no longer be the exception |

Bill, what are the chances the Devils buy themselves out of the Kovy deal?
Honestly tho, what's your opinion on the most talented player likely to be bought out? That is if that's not to early too speculate on... |

Cant see someone of that talent being bought out to be honest, even if his cap hit is high. If I were a Caps fan I'd go berserk.
I think we'll see quite a few overpriced 2nd liners hit the market tho. |

I agree with your premise on that. The 65M Cap hit helps the transition. As long as the 50/50 split is maintained and escrow takes care of that. I don't see what the big deal is from the NHL's end. - MJL
It's not crippling enough to the players to meet their satisfaction I guess. |

The more I think about it, the more I think the NHL and the Owners have it all screwed up. They're trying to put in financial restraints to help the small market teams. I understand that. But the problem is that it's going to hurt the big market teams. That is a huge mistake. The big market teams with the local sponsors, and the biggest fan bases drive the League. They bring in the money. And the kicker is that all of these changes aren't going to do much to make Phoenix, Columbus, or Florida profitable teams that can compete with the big market teams. It's completely the wrong approach in my opinion. Find a away to let the big market teams spend, keep strong teams, without dragging the low market teams with them. Having the Cap floor linked to the Cap ceiling doesn't work. The Cap doesn't work. Luxury tax is the way to go.

MJL- thank you for concisely putting together how I feel about this situation. This post illustrates what I haphazardly and lazily allude to in my posts...I don't like to to wax seriously when I post here, but to me, this is dead on.
The scary, sad and infuriating thing is neither the BoG nor the NHLPA will resolve these issues with this CBA. Leaving the fans with an inferior, short sighted, Mickey Mouse league or better know as status quo.

Logic and the NHL are as far from each other as the East is from the West. |
