What would the logic behind not saying anything about the change for a week? I'm starting to think that the PA feels stupid because they didn't notice the change & are trying to spin it like the NHL is trying to dupe them.
- NickTheKid87

That's exactly what happened imo.

And the media (Ek and others) are eating it up and spinning it into something that it's not.

1) NHLPA will re-vote and give power for the Disclaimer of Interest
2) It will be exicuted By Sunday
3) Gary Betman will hold a presser to announce "it looks like the season will be lost" as the NHLPA has forced their hand to do this
4) everyone will scream and cry and stomp their feet
5) Last ditch efforts to save the season will begin again next Tue Jan 8th
6) Deal will be announced by Jan 10th

Almost at the finish line folks......one more week of scare tactics and B.S. and we will have our game back

Hang in there..............

i don't think so. i think Fehr saw it, told the players, and they put it in their back pocket to create some distance between the two sides. i think Fehr is calling every single shot of this lockout on the PA end, the players are mindlessly agreeing all in hopes that in the final hour, the best deal will come. assuming it does (and we all know it will), will Fehr allow them to sign it?

Here, I'll say it: "Jeremy Maurice Jacobs" is an ass.

If the players cave and Jeremy Maurice Jacobs "wins" I vow to never, ever spend another dime on anything related to the NHL until he is gone. Hell, if this gets resolved in a respectable manner and he's still chairman of the BOG (or whatever title he has that allows him to behave this way) by this time next year I may do it anyway. (f__k that jerk)

I vow to find and promote every illicit stream of every game I can find (I'll make it a hobby) - I vow to promote anyone I find selling 'counterfeit' merchandise using any means available to me (or ones I create for the purpose). I'll pimp the KHL, find ways to convince people to watch the AHL, talk up collage hockey - whatever it takes.

This isn't hard to read and I'm freaking tired of it

to me, the wild card in there is how the league reacts to the disclaimer. i don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they go right back to negotiating if that happens.

Hahaha you wouldn't be able to pay me enough to help these clowns try to recoup what monies they've already lost this year. See ya in 2013-2014 with or without your farce "half" season.

The media is one of the biggest issues here. Most of the players aren't in these conference calls and get their info from the mainstream media. This is dangerous because of the spins and twists that both sides have been doing to the facts. I guess I can't really blame the media itself, it's just doing it's job. It's more the fault of the marketing teams on either side, who are trying to dupe the public.

To expand, there is no reason for any info at all to be told to the public. The reality is that these negotiations have nothing to do with the fans and therefore we should essentially be kept in the dark.

I think this pretty much sums up EXACTLY what's going to happen. Although part of me would LOVE to see it end at number 3 and the NHL tell the NHLPA see you in court with no further communication. I would LOVE to see this blow up in the PA's face.

They have a lifestyle to keep up... There is a reason many of these guys go broke after retiring... Player making 500k takes home in 6 yrs 1.8m, it's Pocket change if you think about it... they need to make enough money for a lifetime.

I'm with you there 100%. Not that many of the players are college educated let alone know anything about finance & business deals of this magnitude. That's why Fehr is 30x more dangerous to these negotiations than Bettman.

I have been optimistic during this entire process. I am a huge hockey fan. I either watch ever Bruins game on TV or I am at the game. The only thing either side cares about is how they will share the revenue and do not give a Sh!% about the fans that have stood by all of them. The Fans are the ones that shell out the money so every one of them can become rich for playing a game. Where is the statement apologizing to the fans? There is not one. Why? Because they never heard the saying "Don't bite the hand the feeds you. My hand feels like it is almost completely gnawed off!!!!

Thanks NHL and NHLPA

I'm with you there but I think the people most hurt by the lockout are the arena workers who could now be out of 41 games of pay and the lesser organizational employees who work on game days. As a fan, it sucks not to have the Flyers & the rest of the NHL around but in truth they are saving me money (on tickets, merchandise, concessions, etc.). The true losers are the ones that need the money & aren't working because millionaires & billionaires can't agree on anything.
