Most of the players playing in the NHL in 2019-20 season wont care about the pay lost this year...
U understand this right...
They are fighting for the future as well man ,a bad deal for the players now could end up losing them Billions down the road....
Now the same goes for the NHL so thats why most should understand that losing the season isn't the end of the world for either side but signing a bad deal could be.. - Fruitcakenipple
The differences between the deal they could have gotten 2 months ago and the deal they get now will be negligible, it certainly is not a difference of billions. Besides, why do the players want the shortest CBA possible? It really doesn't sound like they are fighting for future players. |

And you think he's done a good job? Current players are better off now? I would guess your a union member of some kind and I know you guys stand by your unions right or wrong. I will be not be spending my money on hockey the next season that is played to reinforce the fact that Fehr has phuuucked the dumb and/or greedy players. - seven111dman
I don't think anybody invovled in this is doing a good job. But the players seem to think he's doing a good, as evidence of him still being the face of the Union. |

Not for this year but could be for the next 10yrs...
In the end neither side cares about losing this season if it means losing billions down the road... |

How would it be a difference of billions? The sides agreed to a 50/50 split 2 months ago. Right now they are fighting over contract lengths and other nonsense. Those little things do not make a billion dollar difference to the players, even after 10 years. |

yes, such as escrow, pensions, buyouts and the league minimum salary. so it's probably billions. because they split a pot of 3 billion dollars tis past year. so who know's how much it really is, all i know is that's a number i can't even begin to imagine. |

Join me, a fan, in locking out the NHL for a change!!!!
Hockey is the top professional sport for me. I am a diehard hockey fan and diehard Flyers fan. I didn't think there would be anything in the world that would stop me from watching hockey........
Well, it has happened. I am done. No, am not just saying that now and when they start I'm all in. I'm done! I am so disgusted by this that I don't want to see them play because all I'm going to think about when I watch a game is how half a season was missed because of a fight over making too much money and how to split it???? I'm done this season and next at least.
I hope most fans feel the same and as much as I hate it, we all ignore hockey for a good while. Don't watch, don't go to games, nothing! Both sides are a disgrace. They made too much money off us, the fans, and cancel the games we love to go fight over all the extra money we, the fans, gave them! Now I'm supposed to just come back......again? You're out of your mind!
Gary Bettman said it best at the start of the lockout. 'We know our fans will be there when we play again just as they did in 2004-2005.' And yeah, I was back right away that season. Why? Because those changes were needed. Fans, while still ticked, understood why. This, I find it sick that Bettman and Fehr are playing games because they believe we'll all just come back once the lockout is over.
I can't in my right mind come back and support a league who obviously just assumes I'll support them when they could care less about the league or the fans. How could they care when the NHL had been waiting for years to start really growing and finally, it started! As soon as it starts, they pull this. If you truly cared about the game, the history, the fans, how do you let that happen? You wouldn't! You'd be playing under the old CBA, which everyone made great money under, and continue to negotiate a new CBA while playing.
In 8 years they have taken a season and a half away from us. It's time for us to lockout the NHL. They are fighting over money, the money we give them!
So, the longer this goes, the longer we ignore when they come back, starting with the season lost in 04-05. So right now I'm done for a season and a half.
I'm locking out the NHL. I'm not showing up, reading, buying or watching anything NHL. Maybe if we as fans lock them out for a change, they'll finally feel what they put us through and maybe finally realize that they punish the people who give them the billions they're fighting over!
So to the Players & Owners...I hope you believe you both got a good deal when it's done. I do! And then I hope fans don't show up! Because that good deal you wasted games for, you'll both realize it means nothing when your revenue now goes through the floor because we don't come back! Good job! You worked a new deal assuming we'd all still be there and you would still be seeing record revenue. You never gave a thought that the deal means nothing without us! I hope to god it backfires on you. I hope that if you both had signed a deal that wasn't as greedy, but you lost no games, you find that you would have made more money from that CBA than you will from this one. I can only hope!

Labor problems are always a part of sports...This is just something the NHL is very good at...Don't throw the baby out with the bath water...There's plenty of things to do until the lockout is over...I'm having sex as we speak... |

Actually they do. $25,000 per year for 700 players over the span of 10 years is 1.75 BILLION dollars.
The union is fighting like mad to raise the minimum salary all the way up to $800,000 by year 9. I think the current min. is $575,000 |

Its amazing people dont know this, or that they forget the last CBA.
It was all these "minor" issues that put the PA on top after the last lockout when everyone thought they lost because the owners got their cap. |

That's why there needed to be a lockout...These issues are complex and the process to reach an agreement takes time...Both sides should have been setting the foundation for this over the course of last season and then they could have ironed this b*tch out during the summer which means we'd be watching hockey right now...You can't start working on this crap in the summer and think you're gonna have it worked out by the start of the season... |

The problem is that both sides are so stubborn, it seems the only way to get a deal done is when the chances of a season are hanging by a thread. |

The players knew they were going to be giving up alot again. Their strategy was to delay the start of talks as long as possible and call out the owners to see if they would lockout/cancel the season again. It was really their only leverage. |

Exactly. They could have started this 2 years ago and we'd still be here and both sides would probably be even more charged than they are now. |
