So what's our D going to be like if Hamonic is not ready? If it's a concussion, I hope they don't rush him back or anything. Streit, AMac, Carkner are the definites. Captain Drama Visnovsky if he reports is 4. Hamonic obviously has a spot when he's set to go, but until then...? Bridgeport's D is currently Donovan, Wishart, Landry, Ness, McIver, Hill, Jackson. Cantin is hurt, deHaan is out for the season, and, of course, Hamonic is out. I really can only see Donovan getting a spot. I mean, I guess Wishart takes the extra spot until Hamonic's back? If Vis doesn't report, then there's another spot open too. I think they're going to have to bring someone in...I'd love it to be a top-four player somehow and then everyone gets shuffled back one spot on the depth chart. But it'll probably be a couple of camp invites or something like that. Sound about right? Maybe Reinhart has more of a chance than we think, at least for a 9-game look, if it turns out Hamonic and Vis are out...
Forwards, I figure:
Tavares, Moulson, Okposo, Nielsen, Bailey, Grabner, Boyes, Martin, Reasoner and Boulton have spots locked. Am I missing anyone? I think Joensuu is hurt still, so he won't figure in immediately. That leaves two open spots. Of all the Bridgeport forwards, I think Cizikas is the most NHL ready. Who else do they go with? Nino? Ullstrom (hasn't really put the puck in the net much this year)? Strome? Sign one or two of the FAs still out there or make a trade? - UIF
Im on the same page as you with your synopsis. I think the biggest & most glaring weakness is on D & where I think Garth will try to put out the most offers.. Hopefully we can walk away with a D-men that can log mins & be a part of this team for a few years.. i DONT want to see us grabbing a Campoli or Grevais...

If the isles second line is Okposo/Nielson/Grabner im gonna be ticked off. - kindlyrick
unless you come up with better 2nd line, thats probably the 2nd line, but I got mocked for calling Frans the 2nd line center....
Even if one of the kids make the jump, they will not put the pressure of 2nd line minutes in the biggening of the season to one of the kids.......
so dont be to ticked off...... |

This team is thin. They don't have the bodies to ice a team right now. They need to add players somehow. The only way they can ice a team right now is if they force-feed kids from the "A" onto the roster or rush Reinhart and Strome. No thanks. Hopefully, Snow can add some more pieces once the CBA is signed. |

Very thin Jethro. Hopefully the days of force feeding the kids are over. I'm not looking for earth shaddering moves but let's try to bring in some quality. |

Reports are that Cizikas has been bad this season. He's not ready for a regular shift in the NHL, definitely not a regular shift on a line above the 4th. |

Bad? Who says that? He's looked like the most complete, consistent player on the team to me. In a perfect world, he'd be the only callup I'd make from BPort based on what I've seen. The only knock I can give on his performance is his poor +/-, which is strange to see because when you watch the games, he's clearly one the team's best defensive forwards. But other than that, he's noticeable in every game, kills penalties, forechecks and backchecks well, and has put up a fair amount of points despite missing a bunch of games with some injuries. |
