If Pronger can play, I'd be ecstatic. I would love to see him be able to continue his career.
That said, his health and future with his family is the most important thing. - Jsaquella
We'd all love to see back again, but we all know it isn't happening. Why would he risk it, it just isn't worth it.
The buyout is only for this summer right? |

I've heard that it may be available thru next summer as well, nothing definitive on it, though |

Per Panotch:
Bill Daly says that the Amnesty/Compliance buyouts can't be used on LTIR players...so Pronger would likely be inelligible.
Also reports that Pronger will be at camp, despite not being cleared to play |

Interesting. That LTIR rule is madness.. So we're gonna eat his salary in the offseason.. fantastic. |

He is crazy to even try to play. He has his name on the cup he will be in the HOF why try to play again. If he is there as anything other then a cheerleader he isn't being smart.

Unless they hired Dr Nick Riviera to clear him medically and then buy him out |

That's one way to do it. I am hoping that Nash uses the amnesty clause on Weber so he can finally come to where he belongs.. |

You don't know how he feels . Also to be as successful in a sport like hockey as pronger was it takes a level of desire that I doubt many can fathom. People throw the word warrior around a lot these days and I don't think they understand it. Pronger is a warrior and if he can go, he will go. |

The report that I saw says he'll be AT training camp not participating in training camp. I might be at Flyers training camp too...doubt I'll see much ice time with the team tho. |

Exactly, Joe. While I, too, am leery of a return of #20, if he feels well enough to play, then I support his decision.
Folks need to remember that he missed just 6 games after taking the high stick to the eye on 10/24. He then returned to play on 11/9 and played in 5 straight before he was put on LTIR. He hasn't been out since just the eye injury in October. I don't know what that means, exactly, maybe either the eye injury was exacerbated by an additional hit or hits, or it finally was properly diagnosed in November.

I dunno... How well can you play D? David Sloane and Jamie Fritsch surely could not predict their placement on the 2008-09 roster. |

Great Day for Everyone!
I gotta say, before the announcement, I was really on the fence on whether or not I wanted to see a season this year. Something about this year's team doesn't excite me but I have no doubt in my mind that every team in the league are gonna want to make certain adjustments, so we'll see.
On the plus side, I'm excited to see what types of steps Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn will make after spending half the season in the minors. I'm also really hoping Giroux will stay tops in the league.
Downside, I think every player really looked up to and respected both Pronger and Jagr. I'm also very concerned about the defense. I'm not sure where Meszaros' health is at and for the first time since Timonen has been a Flyer, his age was really beginning to show at the end of last season with back issues. I have the highest hopes that we'll be fine but I really hope they upgrade and I have no doubt that Homer will be keeping his eyes and ears open.
Great Day! |

It would be amazing if Pronger could play but why get our hopes up like this? Every Flyers fan will answer the question on whether or not he'll ever play again quickly. He's done. |
