A short season helps no question, but don't forget you are cramming 50 games into a very short period of time. That means more back to back games, and 3 games in 4 nights. That will take it's toll on older players.

Im just looking forward to watching hockey.

I think this season I'm going to be a little more numb to it all due to the lockout. I'll get frustrated definately at times, but what happens happens. I'm more so looking forward to how the team sets up next off-season for the future. I'm hoping, and expecting a lot of moves.

In terms of injuries though I would be most worried about Grossman and Kimmo. Looking to see how Brayden Schenn does in that department also.

Already there are questions surrounding Bryzgalov, Briere, Giroux all coming off injuries playing overseas. Not to mention Meszaros coming off a torn achillies. And depth players like MAB and Holmstrom guys who would be first called up done for the year. Even though there has been no games for 6+ months injuries are plentiful.

If we're allowed, Pronger is the first buyout this summer. Bryz is a top contender for the second, but I read somewhere we can use the buyouts this summer or next. Maaybe give him this shortened season, then next full season? 2 1/2 seasons to show us what he has is a good sample. Can't blame Homer if he gave him a decent shot before buying him out.

Depends on the who is available as a replacement this summer and next. I listed a bunch of options in a previous thread, Backstrom and Howard are interesting. Both could be had for less than what Bryz makes, and a lot shorter term.

Honestly if a rag team team like Jersey can make it last season...

That stuff is concerning definately. Again though, at this point this lockout has kind of made me numb. I'd love to see Meszaros return to form and have a monster season.

Who is your pick for player that overperforms (suprises) and underperforms.

Tank job in an asterisk season, draft Seth Jones?

The biggest player to worry about in terms of injury and how he recovers is Meszaros, in my opinion. He is a big key to this team.

I like Backstrom but he is getting a little fragile. I always wanted Halak, but dont know if he would be available as I think St. Louis wants to keep him and Elliot. Anderson could maybe be had as well if Lehner continues to develop.

I love the move tampa made to get Lindback.

Realistically Id like to see the team target Eddie Lack and get Backstrom as a stop gap.

Hmmm... I think Schenn has a chance to make some real strides this year. Last year he missed camp, and had multiple injuries that slowed his development, he's been playing AHL games, and should start this season with some momentum.

I think Simmonds will take a slight step back from last year, he was so good that I think there will be at least a slight drop in his production.

Jones reminds me a lot of PK in regards to attitude.

Dont know if thats a good thing. Its going to be interesting who gets that number one pick. I would really look at trying to get it (through trade) if it means getting Jones however.

Bryzgalov will not be bought out. You raise an interesting point in options available via FA this summer, but who's to say they won't be re-signed?

We are going to ride the Bryz train this year. Watch. Lavy doesn't have a good backup for him. It isn't Bob/Bryz tandem anymore. It is starter/backup, and Bryz is the starter. Lavy is gonna roll him out and watch him clean up.

We all know he's a goalie that needs to play to get and stay in the groove.

Not a transition year this year. He's played behind his defense. More chemistry, etc.

And if we buy him out, our starter would be Micheal Frickin Leighton.

Let's go (frank)ing Flyers.

Briere's injury was minor. Giroux is healthy. And other then the report that you posted on Bryzgalov, I haven't seen anything else on a Bryzgalov injury reported. I would think that Bill Meltzer would be aware of an injury to Bryzgalov. The Flyers are in good shape.

I don't think the Flyers will be in the mix for the top pick, but it also wouldn't surprise me in the least if they do not make the playoffs. As currently constructed they have some significant holes.

You would obviously hope the team would get someone else in there instead of Leighton. Thats the whole idea behind buying out Bryzgalov.

Who would they get? They can't sign a FA and trading for a goalie would cost an arm and a leg....

I think Briere will be a big gun for the team this season. Although the time is right for Schenn to evolve further.

I do think expectations may be a little high for a guy like Grossman after how well he played last season.

If they buy out Bryz, why won't they be able to sign a Free Agent?
