I'm wondering if there have been any trades discussed and worked out in principle, and are just waiting for the deal to be ratified to be announced. - MJL
It was a total ego move. Rinne and Weber now account for well over 20% of the teams salary. Watch how well that works out for them. - hereticpride
Perhaps this summer they consider dealing Weber? We'd have quite the competition for him, but our offer would be loaded. I could see Edmonton putting together a really nice offer for his services as well as a few other teams.

Exactly. Rinne wasnt exactly a superstar in the playoffs last season either.
Speaking of Nashville I would wonder about Ellis. Thats if they even want to deal with the Flyers, or the Holmgren believes the hype about Ghost.
I realise a lot of the talk here is about potential future moves. Personally I just cant get myself to be that excited about this season or this group of guys. Lockouts do strange things.

If you are small market team, you want to spend money on a goaltender and defenseman and build on that. Hell that should be the blueprint for every team.

With the cap coming down I'm not sure the offers will be what they want. If Weber asks out tho, that's a whole different deal...

Nashville will not be a bad team this year. When you have a franchise goaltender and the best D man in the sport, those are solid building blocks. People expecting Nashville to be a terrible team are mistaken imo.

I don't expect them to be terrible. I just don't see how they ever get much better.

Well they did lose Suter who is a very good player, but there was no way they could pay both guys. They decided to pay the superior player which was the right choice.

Yeah F Center Ice package. I always hated the fact the Philadelphia feed is NEVER an option. Constantly getting the other teams nonHD feed. NICE! - Pixote Andolini
I will be honest that the Philly TV guys sometimes annoy me. Not the material but just the voice. Its a little too weak for my liking.
Im a Gord Miller kind of guy. Ive posted this here a few times but it always gives me chills.

Oh hell yes G. Miller is a great call. So is Hughson, but I don't live in Canada so I'm stuck with calls from teams in the States. The Flyers broadcast can get annoying to me as well. Coates is pretty rough around the edges and Jackson's Flyers goggles are sometimes a little too ridiculous. One of the worst voices in the league has to be the Caps color guy. Haha I forget his name but jesus what an annoying voice.
I'm guessing 50-game season starting on January 19th. I am interested to see the buyouts this summer and who becomes available.
For teams chasing Luongo, I'd offer minimal assets for him. If nobody takes a big swing at him, and why would they, Vancouver seriously considers buying him out this summer. Lou on a much shorter contract for free is enticing for a lot of teams. If we buy out Bryz and Lou gets bought out, any supporters of signing Lou on a 4-5 year deal for 5 mil per?
Players like Matt Read, capable of 20 goals for really cheap, are going to be even more prime assets for teams. If we can't re-sign him due to raises for G, Schenn, Coots, etc, I'm sure a lot of teams would make offers for him.
