I would give up Brayden Schenn reluctantly for the right player. I don't know if Subban is that player. But if the Flyers ever want to be a top team, they need a dynamic 2 way top defenseman. - MJL
No question. Just looking at the last 5 Cup winning teams. You have Lidstrom, Letang, Keith, Chara, Doughty. |

im still waiting for letang to take that next big leap to be truly elite. i think he has it in him, but the mental lapses are just there too much still. it was those lesser guy like gill and scuderi that truly made that run possible. but i can definitely see the trend in top defenseman and winning. |

Letang is elite imo. I think he's a top 10 dman in the League right now. |

I'd align myself with Bill Meltzer's opinion...Couturier isn't an option, but I could possibly be persuaded to part with Schenn in a Subban deal. - Jsaquella
yeah i agree Couturier is a more valuable piece than schenn, but i still think schenn is going to provide such crucial support to giroux offensively on the scoring front that dealing him would be very detrimental. like i said, maybe i am just biased against subban, who i think has all of the physical tools but is currently highly overrated |

I think the time is finally right for the Canucks. - flyer_nutter
The Canucks time has come and gone like the Sharks. Sorry to disagree with you.
I hope I'm wrong but I get a bad feeling that Fleury is going to put it back together and the Pens are going to do it to rub salt into the Flyers fans lockout wound. |

yeah i guess that is true. i just think he needs to take the last step mentally. his blend of offense and defense has the potential to be a superstar. although that is worrisome because it means his next contract is going to be HUGE and tough to absorb with crosby and malkin |

i agree about the canucks. still a talented team but the sedins arent getting any younger. that window is closing fast. and the pens will definitely need some consistency in net, but i have a hard time seeing the flyers and pens at or near the top of the conference for the next 5 years |

Yeah. Could be tough to fit him in. Having that much money tied up in 3 guys all be it 3 monsters, doesn't leave a whole lot to fill out a roster. Flyers will sign him. |

Well, any deal sending Schenn or Couturier for Subban would be a case of the Flyers dealing from depth to address a hole. Subban has a lot of maturing to do, while Couturier is as polished an 18 year old as the Flyers have seen in awhile |

I'd hate to trade either of them and before I'm trading Schenn I'd want to see how having the brothers together on the team works. I know it sounds stupid but having the Schenn brothers could bring out the best in them. But if I had to trade one it would probably be B. Schenn. |

The Pens talent is still young and the Flyers are young up front. The Rangers are going to blow themselves out in three years if not next and Brodeur is going to retire around the same time. Then there's the Islanders. So someone is going to have to be at the top. |

Could be on both fronts.
The pens will be looking for revenge after last season especially on Giroux. Although I also think the Flyers will be gunning hard for Neal and company.
Im very curious how Crosby will do this year. Is everything past him? |

For some reason I don't despise the Pens like I do the Rags and Devils. I don't really dislike any players on the Penguins except for James Neal. His showing in the playoffs last year was a disgrace. Malkin is sneaky dirty too.
I like Bylsma as well. |

i dont think thats dumb at all. i think jordan staal is going to become an absolute stud down in carolina with eric. i think luke schenn is going to be a good minute eater, and brayden is going to either be a productive winger or be decent at centering his own line even at his young age. coots is going to be an incredibly special player. going to be a pain in the ass to play against for years. incredible d with 25 goals at least a year, and intangibles off the charts. |

Always despised Crosby.
Mainly for how the league shoved him down our throats ever since he came into the league. That and he does have a way with the Flyers. I love to see Malkin get frustrated its funny as hell for a guy of his size. |

Living in northern Jersey I hate the Rags & Devils, but the Pens just really drive me crazy, even their coach. I really wanted to see hot Lava jump the bench and beat the sh*% out of him last year. |

I'm the exact opposite. I hate everything that involves the Penguins. There is not one player on that team that I like. Bunch of babies who have some self-entitlement problems to fix.
I do, however, like Byslma. It was really hard not to hate him during 24/7.
In a couple of seasons when guys like Callahan, Krieder, Stepan, and Miller come into their primes--I'm going to have a huge problem hating the Rangers. |

i think that series had some black marks for both teams. both players teams took shots. neither team hesitated to go after the other. however, i just get mad when its players like asham or rinaldo that are barely worthy of regular minutes that go after guys like giroux or malkin. but thats how it is i guess.
as of now, Crosby appears to be in terrific shape and ready to go, although im sure the threat of a cataclysmic injury will always be at the forefront of everyones mind |

Well the odds of them drafting one and developing him is very minimal. The best homegrown dman over the last quarter century is Chris Therien. - PLindbergh31
Even if they were to draft that kind of defenseman, he'd take years to develop into that player. The Flyers need is a bit too immediate to solve that way.
Of course, I certainly hope they draft and develop a top defenseman either way. |
