Only 2 reasons this Luongo to Philly trade is surfacing

1. Flyers want to acquire Luongo to flip him immediately or before trade deadline for help on defense.

2. Homer is kicking the tires in an effort to jack price up and spite Toronto for firing Burke this morning.

Anything other reason makes zero sense.

Flyers need help on D but don't want to trade their young players on offense. They have an already thin blue line and no assets to trade there. The UFA defensemen crop are all worse than their current top 8.

Any team the Flyers try trading with for D help want immediate player return and not picks/prospects.

It's possible Homer was inquiring to see if Vancouver would trade luongo for top picks and prospects - Possible those assets are better to Vancouver than the player offers they're receiving from other team.

Not likely at all, but there's no shot Flyers are trying to carry both those goalies. Both goalies would suffer in a tandem and the buyouts would be huge $$$.

Homer has a good relationship with Burke. Nothing for him to lose by talking to Vancouver and hoping it screws Toronto on their price tag.
