I'd be thrilled if the Flyers managed to get Jimmy Howard. I love his game. Only issue is, why would Detroit let him go?

Is it worth a shot at taking a chance on a young back-up like Bernier, Enroth, Greiss, etc? Some people like that idea but I'd prefer to stick with Bryz in that scenario.

They could always use the 27th overall pick to get Jacob Markstrom. Oh wait, what...Steve Eminger!?!?

It was to prove a point. There is no reason that I know of at this point to state that Gustafsson will not be available to play for the Flyers at some point of the Season. He has an injury. I have not heard it announced that it is a Season ending injury.

Haha that was a head scratcher even without hindsight bias.

They'd have to go with a 1 or 2 year deal. He's not ideal, but one of the names out there. I think I'd prefer Jimmy Howard
- Jsaquella

I don't see how Minnesota can let him walk. What option would they have with out him.

Homer did manage to turn Eminger (and Downie) into 4-seasons of Matt Carle, so it wasn't a complete write off.

But losing out on the chance to draft either a RH top-pairing dman (Carlson) or a potential franchise goaltender (Markstrom) is just too ironic, considering that those are the two areas of weakness that have always needed to be addressed.

Just imagine if they hadn't traded JVR for Luke Schenn. They likely would have made another move, but no guarantee you're getting someone close to Schenn's pedigree/potential.

Still not a huge fan of that deal, though I suppose I understand it to an extent.

Josh Harding is signed for the next 3-seasons, and they have Matt Hackett, son of Jeff, waiting in the wings.

To the Flyers: Jordan Leopold, Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Gurgensons

To the Sabres: Danny Briere and Matt Read

- Baltharch

Well, it's fairer than any Maple Leafs trade ever posted is. My only problem is how briere is money in the play-offs, I'm pretty opposed to moving him without getting a more premier defenseman. Might not be feasible to do, but maybe you just don't trade him in that case.

Even if they had had that pick it wouldn't have surprised me if they took someone like Philip McCrae. Thomas McCollum went ahead of Markstrom by a pick so its possible we would've drafted him instead anyway.

Does that cap hit count if he's amnestied though? I haven't read up on it.
- NickTheKid87

If he's amnestied, the contract is totally off the cap. No penalties if he retires ten minutes later, no issue if he plays another 45 years.

No it wasn't much.

Let's just say putting out some flames before the fire starts.

It's too bad our teams hate each other so much huh? We have lots of potential candidates for your 3rd pair...

You might end up picking one of them up on waivers at some point.
