I do want one, ty.

Gomez? Nokelienen? I like White/Prust/Eller so you cant have them.

It's probably been said before, maybe even today, but I'd love to see Jason Arnott get a camp invite. He'd be great for the 4th line center role so Talbot can move up. Plus he'd be capable of playing on the third line as well in the event of an injury.

Not a terrible idea at all. The more experienced bodies the merrier.

You don't know how close Gustafsson is to playing. Everytime someone is injured you act like it's career threatening and he may never play again. You missed the point on Walker.
- MJL

I missed nothing. Bringing up Walker as an option to play NHL games is laughable.

Unless there is an injury that requires it. I would not use any further Cap assets on the Forward position. I would save it all to upgrade the defense for the right player.

Those lines look about right.....I really think this is the year Brayden Schenn shows why the Flyers traded Mike Richards for him......I also have read prior to this blog that you feel Matt Read will be a gonner for cap resrictions after next year (you or Eklund..my apologies if not you).....I see a Patrick Sharp type scenario with this kid....I think he has first line potential....Hopefully Homer finds away to make the #s work.
The D is thin for sure ....and that may be where Homer feels the need to deal a talented forward for more help on the backend....Finally ....saw the logic in Homer kicking the tires on Luongo....If true it is very telling what the Flyers actually think of Bryz....(I too can't get my head around the buyout #s though)...
great read again...thx

- landros 2

Actually as miserable as Bryz performance was last year during the first half of the season, the overall numbers have been on of the best performances by a flyers goalie since 2001.

The draft pick used to take Ryan White was originally a 3rd rounder that the Flyers acquired (and then traded to MTL) in the infamous Patrick Sharp trade. So he's tainted.

Don't know too much about Nokelienen's skill set.

I agree but if you could get him at a cheap price (i.e. nothing greater than a year at $1.5 million) than it might be worth a shot.

Yes, you did miss the point. It's about Cap space with Walker, not about him playing. And then you want to add another veteran 7th defenseman on top of it.

I'd be in favor of that. I'd assume he's kept himself in playing shape through the LO, hoping to hook on somewhere since he's still unsigned.

The fact that this entices me is somewhat scary. I do like Tyler Ennis. Doubt this would ever happen though.

Any veteran regardless of position, needs to be signed for less then 900K

So because the Flyers have dead weight like Walker among others that should preclude them from trying to add some depth and improve the team?

I also like Dominic Moore (condolences to him and his family) and Daymond Langkow to a lesser extent.

Hartnell, Giroux (though he will almost surely have more career years) Simmonds, talbot, the rookies, Jake.

My comparison is Hab fans who think all of Cole-DD-Pacioretty will improve on last year's career years. aint gonna happen.

- muffin_man

Yeah, I'm pretty grounded. I'm not expected Simmonds to pot 35 & Read to score 40.

A somewhat healthy Mezsaros, and Briere coupled with some solid, consistent goaltending from Bryzgalov and this is a legit playoff contender, things go the other way with injuries and poor goaltending and this is a team that probably misses the playoffs. So many variables, especially in a short season.

The fact the question has to be asked which Bryz do the Flyers get indicates it is a poor signing. When you sign a guy to that type of contract, you better know damn well what you are getting.I'm keeping an open mind this year with him. I could care less about all the off the ice stuff that the media blows out of proportion, everything else besides him stopping the puck should mean nothing to anyone.

- PLindbergh31

Excellent point. With that said, I hope he just needed a season to adjust. Again, when you use hope, probably not great.

It's not really a good point. It's unfair.

You won't find anyone more against the Bryz contract than me, but to base the outcome of the signing on one season is short-sighted and wrong.
