It is a bit of a toss up. If you want to whine about playing for the Islanders and not play then so be it. It will affect the career of whomever is doing the whining believe me. The negatives of having someone who doesn't want to play here on the team far out weigh the positives no matter how good they are. Even for a team as desparate as we are for Dmen. I understand the reasoning behind not wanting to play here as many of you know what my opinion is of the state of this franchise but that in no way gives someone a clause out of being a PROFESSIONAL athlete taking on said players makes us look desperate(whether we are or not is irrelevant)and in turn dumb. Snow needs to sell this team and its plan to players, thats what he gets payed for. Anyone who thinks otherwise and feels bad for the guy because of Wang is completely numb. I recently took on a job that some of my colleagues put their noses up to because it was sold to me by administrators and management. Thats his job for christs sake. Some idiot on here will fire back with, " well cptmjl if you're such a great GM then who would you get?". Guess what? I'm not a GM, but that doesn't excuse Snow from hopefully having a little more information than me on the subject? The Isles need to get respect back from the league and its players and to do that they need to earn it and show they truly want to win. Taking on a player like Vis will not facilitate that. Don't make a bid on one FA make a bid on five. If they say (frank) off then we and the league know you tried and you have at the very least the will to win. Make some sound management decisions and some trades to build around your prospects. Don't have a coach who is so obviously not good to even the most casual hockey fan coach your team. Believe me the players will take notice and want to jump on board with that more than anything else. More so than a new arena which is not even an excuse any longer. Phew, just ran with that one. Know I got a bit off topic but think I answered your question? - Cptmjl
unfortunately these athletes think theyre bigger than life and have the right to dictate where they want to play sometimes. If I'm Garth Snow I stick him in Bridgeport for the entire season and watch him rot.
Do the Isles really need Visnovsky? No. Even if he did suit up for the Isles they'll still finish no higher than 28th overall so what's the point of dragging it on. Let the IIHF handle it and when he reports he's AHL bound. |

Id be willing to take action on the isles finishing above 28th in the league. Even up, you call the amount. |

thats really annoying about Bailey. looks like plan to play in Europe backfired.
You all know im a fan of bailey and i do believe this is important year for him. Missing a month then trying to get back into shape going to be tough battle for him.
as much as i like him i agree with many on this board. He has to put up this year. B/c if not, he most certainly will not be part of long term solution.
We have way too much talent knocking on the door in next few years. Forwards are not the isles problem. Defense is though. i have to admit, I always more positive then most, but with No Viz, we are looking very light on defense. Also fact that Nabby hasnt played since last year and tht DP is still in mix basically toasts us before the puck starts.
Only bridgeport dman that i most certainly can make a difference on team is DONOVAN at this point. Wishart needs a heart and im not sure Ness is redy.

You guys done get it. Im glad Snow hasnt made moves up until this point. looks how stack our prospects are. Ask Brian Burke or the 45 toronto hasnt won a cup if making trades worked out. Same and with 10+years under milbury.
YOu make the trade when your team is ready. I think we are close. Snow will add either this year or next.
Trading for sake of trading only sets you back in long run. |

Too bad for Bailey...he will miss the first couple weeks.
Maybe the first 5 or 6 games.
Good reason for Strome to stick around for 5 games... more ice time!!!
The Vis thing is going to work itself out.
I guess the main thing is too get him over here to North America, then figure out what you want to do with him.
Either play him, demote him or trade him!!!
Should be interesting how Reinhart will look in training camp.
I'm not sure he will get to stay for the 5 games... but you never know.
He has played alot of hockey this year, and plays a simple stay @ home game.

Saw on twitter some teams are sniffing around RFA's especially Subban, Del Zotto and Kulikov...I wouldn't think the Islanders would go after Subban? If you really want to bust on the Rangers offer Del Zotto $ 3.5 million a year and see if he signs...the Rangers would really be in a bind...they only offered a little more than $2.0 million... |

Dont get me wrong I think Del Zotto is a fine player... small, O gifted, D lacking, but 3.5 for the 4-5 years it would take for him to sign with us.. then the picks it would cost us to the Rags.... naaaa
As for busting on the Rags... why? We have enough of our own problems in our own back yard.

Garth snow should show some jam and trade that guy before the first game of the season. How do you let a guy with this many problems into your lockeroom. How many times does this guy have to show he doesn't wanna be here. I feel like Snow's an abused housewife who keeps coming back for more. - kindlyrick
You can't trade him. It sends a bad message to any other vet who wants no part of the isles that if you whine and female dog enough, you can get out. Screw Visnovsky. Toll his deal and make an example out of him. It's a matter of principle at this point. They can't reward him and his bad behavior by giving him exactly what he wants: a trade. |

How about trading for the sake of winning? How about trading because you have had the assets to trade for a few years now? How about trading just for the reason of not having room to keep these players under contract? How about trading because it's completely neccesary to trade to be a successful team in this league? This team has been ready for a few years now. We have had the assets, we have had JT. Who else has been added to our roster really? It's time. Burke is a good GM and to even make a mild comparison between him and Garth Snow of all people completely detracts from whatever point you are trying to make. Guy won a cup and pretty much built the Vancouver team that's there now. What the hell has Snow done? |

I wouldn't touch Del Zotto for $3.5m.
We could have drafted Kulikov instead of de Haan |
