I think that Boucher has proven that he has the temperament, and is content as a backup. And is a positive on the team in that role. And all things being equal, I'd choose Boucher. But I don't know that to be the case. - MJL
He's awesome in the room, too, something that you can never have too much of. |

You can say he's not a proven backup, but you certainly haven't proven that he's not.
Look at what the player is right now, not 10 years ago, or 5 years ago, But right now. Because that is when he's on your team. Right now. Right now, Leighton is legitimate NHL backup Goalie. - MJL
Right now? He's played 1 NHL lvl game over the last season.
So what am i looking at? |

Woah, I didn't even know there was a trade. I figured we were just rerunning some favorite debates from the past few years - BulliesPhan87
Well the Carter play is being brought up again?

The player's most recent play, both in the NHL and the AHL. |

Yep, if both players are equal, that is why I would choose Boucher.

That's the part of deal that intrigues me.. Hope we start drafting and acquiring D. - Hextall271
Unless they somehow figure out how to successfully draft a NHL quality d-man, the acquisition route may be the only way to go. |

Take that back.. since we made our run to the Stanley Cup... he's played 1 game in the NHL.
Over 2 years ago was his last game action. |

Since when does AHL play equate to NHL success?
The guy has always been good in the AHL. And he's always been subpar in the NHL.
All i'm saying is that real teams don't use players like him. |

Are you telling me that AHL play never equates to NHL success? Players come up from the AHL, and are successful all the time in the NHL. Leighton hasn't always been sub par in the NHL. That's simply not true.
I guess the Flyers aren't a real team then! |

You're not looking at his contract. His last contract was $1.5mm per year, which became an issue with Bobrovsky's bonuses counting on the cap.
My biggest issue with Leighton as the back up is if he'll get enough work to stay sharp when called upon. |

Foster Boucher and a 2010 second rounder are in the fold!!
I think we shoudl now debate how Homer hates 2nd round picks..I wonder if alt gets flipped for a pick at the TDL - Hextall271
Did we find out if Foster got one or two years yet? As for the trade, I like. |

I'm really surprised that Shelley hasn't been brought up yet. That is shocking to me. |

Lets just say we hope that Breeze doesn't get nicked up or gets asked by NASA to man the new Mars Rover and we have to depend on either Leighton or Boosh to carry us. Either way, it'd end up the same. |

Ah, what might have been... I was a Jeff Carter fan but there's nothing wrong with talking about his missed opportunity in the final. The old timers are still talking about Chico Ruiz's steal of home in September of '64. He he doesn't steal home, do the Phillies not go on the losing streak and win the pennant? Questions, questions for those of us with nothing better to think about. |

All the Bobby Lou talked has died down for the Flyers. All things being equal I would take Lou over Bryz 7 days a week, but outside a second round pick I'm not giving away any pieces of this team. |
