kovy 779 games 406 goals 379 assists 785 points
gabby 722 games 324 goals 323 assists 647 points
nash 674 games 289 goals 258 assists 547 points
so yes even though he out scored him last year i still think he is the better scorer |

if Kovalchuk was on the same team as Richards and Nash, I'd agree with you.

If Hiller struggles, Fasth will win the starting job away from him and it may be the best thing for the Ducks.
Kovalchuk will make NJ forget about the boy names Zach. - Steve Palumbo
While I don't know any Ducks fans that are predicting Hiller will win the Vezina, Fasth beating him out for the starting job will never happen. He's never even played on a North American rink let alone in the NHL. |

you gained a player for two
stop making it sound like its the exact same team with one new player - shvingter88
that's like saying the devils lost Bergfors and Cormier for Kovi.

alright you are clearly convinced that gaborik is a better goal scorer although kovy has out scored him in 7 of the last 10 years and has less then a full season played of more games but over 100 more points then him on just as bad of team gaborik was on in minny and nash was in columbus |

well only Ranger even getting "honorable mention" is the goalie, but the Rangers realistically have award potential at every position. - jimbro83
well, did they have a bad season last year? did anyone other than Lundqvist get nominated for anything?

so, you think Kovalchuk will score more goals than Gaborik or Nash? - jimbro83
well, Kovalchuk has outscored Nash 2 of the last three years and Gaborik may not play more than 20 games. I don't think its impossible. |

I don't predict he will win it, but if healthy, Hiller should play his way into the conversation. People seem to forget the development track he was on before his vertigo and the let down last season. Dude was an All Star before his symptoms started, after all. |

I don't know about "development track". He played his first full season at 26. That's a fully developed goalie. but yeah, if he can get back to what he was pre-vertigo, he has a shot at being in the convo. Outside looking in, at best though. |

Just throwing out there as far as the Gaborik vs Kovy debate: Gaborik scored 4 more goals than Kovy last year and played 5 more games, that's 0.5 GPG for Gabby and 0.48 for Kovy, so point is it's very close and which ones will score more goals could really go either way. Nash last year had 0.37 GPG, though you could expect that to raise with him playing with much better line mates.
The point is, while it's by no means a definite, I don't think saying Kovy will score more goals than Gaborik and Nash is ridiculous, especially considering he's coming off playing very well in Russia; not to mention he had far more points than either of them last year. |
