9 years at 4.5 million or 1 year back up deal??
i take option A - LetsGoIsles
He'll take option "A", but the Isles don't have to. They can buy him out and stop the bleeding. Then, RDP can re-start his career somewhere else. RDP gets his buy-out and can also re-start his career somewhere else. Its not a choice for RDP. The team should be making the choice for him by buying him out. |

Thomas Hickey is an Isle!!! - jimmc7722
from Hockey's future:
Talent Analysis
Hickey's strong suit is his skating ability and he exudes confidence on and off the ice. He plays bigger than his 5'11, 185-pound frame might suggest. A well-spoken player with great on-ice vision. Uses his skating ability to move the puck out of the zone and pressure the opposition's forwards up-ice. Might develop into a future powerplay quarterback.
Future
If Hickey can prove durable enough to stand the rigors of the pro-game, he will be Manchester's powerplay quarterback and a source of offense from the back end. |

Vis is coming over this week!!! - jimmc7722
Isles also claim Thomas Hickey on waivers as per Dee's update. Much more interested in this as he's only 23 however as a 4th overall pick who hasn't made the NHL as a regular by now, likely just more depth for bridgeport if he doesn't impress in these last 3 days of camp...lol
I feel like LV isn't going to report regardless of whether or not the KHL let's him play. If he does though, I still play him in the top 4 and he will help the team.
If LV does report, how do you all feel about having more depth in Hickey, Finley, Donovan, Martinek, Ness etc? I feel it's still an upgrade to the defense, I still don't think it'll hold up against our division but it'll be a heck of a lot less stressful than watching Eaton, Staios and Jurcina

did u miss Dee's blog.. Let me recap.. There I was in the locker room. The handsome ruggedly good looking Martin was sweating over his equipment.. and hamonic was ooozing with rippling sweaty muscles as I asked him what he had for lunch... Dipietro swished his beloved locks into his islander hat and with his sparkling eyes told me all I needed to know.. he is ready. - niteislander

Or you can think of it this way.... All three of the latter players mentioned combined do not have as many NHL games as one of the after mentioned. In other words, we are (frank)ed either way. Snow doing his usual former first round pick busts acquisitions. |

I have a better gut feeling about this pickup than I did Finley. Getting back to Vis not showing, I'm guessing by him not showing he's forfeiting his opportunity to play for his country in the Oylmpics. I'm pretty sure the IIHF will intervene. Thoughts? |

With the waiver acquisitions of Finley and Hickey it got me interested in who you think your top 7 D look like. And give me your top 8 if you are going to include LV.
Thanks.
Usually, I can tell another team roster by looking at capgeek (contract status). Not in this case.

The isles have more former first round picks than any other team in the league.

The worst thing about this season is we are going to get shelled and not reap the benefits of a first overall probably? With 14 teams having a shot at first overall the odds are against us. Well if we don't get first overall we have to give Garth credit, it's not from a lack of trying on his part. - Cptmjl
The odds are still exactly the same. |

So he'll really upgrade Bridgeports PP! Anyway, doesn't the new CBA say that these waiver pickups have to be on the big club's roster for 30 days before getting sent to the AHL. If they do it before that, their former team has first rights on the waiver. |

not a playoff defense, but not a worst overall defense either. IF LV reports, it looks a lot better then it did two days ago

obviously we'd all like to see someone who can make more of an impact brought in, but it hasn't exactly been a busy trade market these last 3 days..
