With us not havin cap issues THIS season...
And no apparent 3rd line replacement for him...
I'd be shocked to see Leino bought out THIS year
With the cap going down next year,
And us needing to give Hodgson a new contract (we should do that NOW, it'll cost less then if we wait till after he has a good season), and needing to replace Leopold & Regehr bc they are both UFA...
I'd say Leino almost definitely gets bought out next summer
We have his replacement in the line-up in Armia,
And if he's not ready I think Tropp can play on that 3rd line

- jdfitz77

I think they'll give Leino every opportunity to succeed with Ott and Grigs and if he catches lightning in a bottle, Regier will have some thinking to do with regard to buying him out this summer. I still think they will and I would hope for a cheaper solution on the wing on the 3rd line. Armia could be that guy.

The math argument, you guys are counting the original 10$ as a part of the increase.

By your guys math, if they charged $10 last year, and then charged $10 this year, you're counting that as a 100% increase.

You can't count the orginal cost.

if they were $10 last year and they are raised 100% that would be $20. If we are already at 20$ at only 100% increase how can $26 be a 260% increase? It cant.

The tickets went up 160% of the original cost.

- Buffalo--Sabres

Goddamn it I'm trying to catch up from earlier and this is killing me..

I was a finance major...

% change formula is Large # minus the small #, divide by small #.

It's a 160% increase from the initial purchase price.

Thank you. I just had to get that off my head. I'm sure it's already been touched on...

Edit: "You should listen to him. He was pre-med".

If you are a contender, you need a player like Vanek. Who on this team will go to the net? Stafford- nope, Gerbe- please, Leino-lol, Pommer-not his game. Foligno is the only other player to stay in front of the net and his resume is far from complete to displace Vanek. If anything, Ruff should utilize the fact that Vanek has a really good slapshot and play him at the point with a big body like Foligno in front.
- Dwight K. Schrute

If you are talking about the PP I like that idea. I think Pommer should be on point with Myers or Ehrhoff. Vanek should be in position to take slapshots from the mid-boards or the circles.

When there is a hot goalie sometimes I sometimes feel like Vanek is the only person on our team that can put the puck in the net. He is better in front of the net than Foligno because he can elevate the puck up close. He has an accurate, quickly released shot and people also forget that he was battling a nagging shoulder injury last year. I like Vanek in general

Vanek should be better than Foligno at standing in front of the net and tipping pucks in. He's a more highly skilled player. That's not a knock on Foligno either. Foligno is going to get more of the "Dave Andreychuk" type goals. Complete garbage that he gets by working hard. Vanek's game is much more skilled

to be honest ....vanek has a nice slapper. Instead of wasting him in front of the net on the PP. Why not try him on the half wall??

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to rotate him around. Have him on the half wall sometimes and in front of the net others. I think that would also keep the other team on their toes because they never know where he's going to be.

Also, I was pissed that we re signed Hecht so I checked out how he was doing in Germany...not bad #'s at all...was even more productive than Pommer surprisingly. Homer any word on how he's looked/ what his role is expected to be?

I honestly didn't care one way or another because the contract is for a low amount. He actually looked really good yesterday during the scrimmage. He seems to have a jump in his step that's been missing the last 2 years. It's amazing what being healthy can do for you.

He has his Bernier jersey on right underneath. And that of course is over his Torres jersey.

No thats Garth and he's wearing it over his Doan jersey.

Could be better in the slot. won't get abused as much. more room. How many puck do the Sabres throw out to the slot and no body is there?

edit: after reading back a couple spots.. pretty much same as Goosie

I'm surprised how quiet it's been around here last night and today. With the scrimmage yesterday I thought people would really be talking.

Guess I was wrong.

I'm glad the A handed out a suspension to the sh!tbag that hit Girgensons the other day.

If we are to believe Ruff in that Hecht will have a limited role to start out. My hope for him is no more than 14 mins a night playing 3rd/4th line mins with 2nd unit pk time. 10-15 points is the max I'd hope for. With strong defensive play. It's a low risk, high reward signing. I just hope for his sake that his head is ok and it's not one of those the boxer doesn't know when to quit scenarios.

That said if we go by recent history, Hecht will be the top line center by the 8 min mark of the 1st period on Sunday.

This is one my fears as well.

For his health, he probably should have just retired. I'm sure his kids would appreciate their Dad knowing who they are in 10 years.

Ruff needs to set the lines in stone and run with it . only changes would be due to injury . Which I hope some other team gets to use that excuse .

I seem to be home a lot these days. I think it's because I'm used to having games to go to once or twice a week and last year I was at work at night. I'm still trying to adjust.

He'll never do that. If it does happen, I might have to ask where the real Lindy Ruff is, because the one that's coaching would have to be an impostor.

Put Scott in front of the net on power play !!! Good luck moving him !!!! He may not be able to tip anything . But he sure would be hard to see through and around . LOL
