He'll never do that. If it does happen, I might have to ask where the real Lindy Ruff is, because the one that's coaching would have to be an impostor. - HonkFortheGoose
He did mention and it caught my attention during an interview, he is changing his ways of thinking this season. No mention of what that means .

That could be something as simple as wearing different ties on game night. Don't give him too much credit.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to rotate him around. Have him on the half wall sometimes and in front of the net others. I think that would also keep the other team on their toes because they never know where he's going to be. - HonkFortheGoose

If we are to believe Ruff in that Hecht will have a limited role to start out. My hope for him is no more than 14 mins a night playing 3rd/4th line mins with 2nd unit pk time. 10-15 points is the max I'd hope for. With strong defensive play. It's a low risk, high reward signing. I just hope for his sake that his head is ok and it's not one of those the boxer doesn't know when to quit scenarios.
That said if we go by recent history, Hecht will be the top line center by the 8 min mark of the 1st period on Sunday. - dadeadhead
4th liner or spot duty on third line
if he gets pp time over leino, then lindy has officially ruined another sabre

I hope lindy does as well - homiedclown
I love that we start the season off against Philly. I think that game is really going to give us a good idea of what to expect out of this "tougher" lineup we're sporting this year.
Did Foligno even play a game against Philly last year? I'm too lazy to look it up.

This is one my fears as well.
For his health, he probably should have just retired. I'm sure his kids would appreciate their Dad knowing who they are in 10 years. - HonkFortheGoose
If the kid doesn't stick a third line of Ott/Hecht/Leino isn't all that bad if Hecht is healthy. Ott takes the FO and moves back over to lw. Hecht provides strong defensive play down the middle. Leino fighting for his NHL life see's the hard work the other two guys are providing and steps up. He has said he prefers to play with guys like that(I giggled as I typed that).
If the kid sticks, I like Hecht on this team even more because he'll be a very good 4th liner.

NYI claimed Hickey off waivers too. I wonder what Snow's got going on there. Adding Finley took them to 9 defensemen. Now they have 10. - HonkFortheGoose

Considering the sunshine gleeming off Grigo's ass. If freako keeps impressing ,Lindy just might keep him Leino and Ott. Hecht would be stuck on the 4th line .

You giggling made me giggle.
I think this is spot on. I'm just hoping that it's how it works and not Hecht on the top line after 1 game.

is that counting Visnovsky? - homiedclown
I don't know. That was the number that Hamilton threw out when they were talking about it. I only did the simple math of adding 1 to 9. That's about the extent of my math skills.

His best season came when the Stars were hit by the injury bug. Ott became the 2nd line center, 1st unit pk, and 2nd unit pp. You and I along with a few other have been calling for him on this team for years. The versatility he brings with being able to play anywhere along with the fact he'll hit anything that moves is going to be a real joy to watch on this team this year.

He should be an asset to the attitude for the team. Team has been lacking that for years now.

yep, his occasional penalty will be so much easier to take then the typical vanek or lydman lazy penalty
people on this site have no freakin clue what we got when darcy pulled that trigger
